WHAT YOU'LL DO
At Ingenuity Prep, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As our School Social Worker, you will play a critical role in helping students overcome barriers to learning by providing direct mental health services, behavioral support, crisis intervention, and family partnership. Working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, families, and members of our Student Support team, you will help create inclusive learning environments where students develop the skills, resilience, and confidence they need to succeed. Through your expertise and compassionate approach, you will strengthen our school's systems of support while ensuring every student has access to the resources they need to reach their full potential.

Provide Direct Student Support

  • Deliver high-quality individual and group counseling services that promote students' social-emotional well-being, behavioral growth, and academic success.
  • Identify students in need of counseling, social services, and additional interventions through collaboration with staff, families, and student data.
  • Respond to student crises with professionalism, empathy, and sound clinical judgment while coordinating appropriate follow-up supports.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of services provided.

Lead Behavioral Assessment and Intervention

  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Social History reports to inform individualized student supports.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revise Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that promote positive student outcomes.
  • Use data to monitor intervention effectiveness and adjust supports based on student progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure interventions align with students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

Partner with Staff and Families

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and families to develop comprehensive support plans for students.
  • Coach teachers and staff on effective behavior management strategies, trauma-informed practices, and classroom interventions.
  • Facilitate productive communication between home and school to strengthen partnerships that support student success.
  • Connect families with community resources and outside agencies when additional services are needed.

Strengthen Schoolwide Systems of Support

  • Partner with school leadership to coordinate and strengthen special education and student support services.
  • Provide consultation on social-emotional learning (SEL), student wellness initiatives, and character development programming.
  • Support schoolwide attendance initiatives by identifying barriers, implementing interventions, and collaborating with families to improve student attendance.
  • Contribute to a positive, equitable, and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and district requirements related to social work and special education services.
  • Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics and all professional standards of practice.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to strengthen clinical practice and remain current on best practices in school social work.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Social Worker in the District of Columbia (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment).
  • Experience providing counseling, behavioral interventions, and case management services in a school or youth-serving setting.
  • Knowledge of special education processes, behavioral assessments, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and restorative practices.
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and collaborating on IEP teams.
  • Experience working in urban public or public charter schools.

Salary Range: $74,067 - $92,500 (commensurate with 1-10 years of experience)
