Ingenuity Prep is a high-performing public charter school in Ward 8, serving scholars from Pre-K through Middle School. We are a supportive school community dedicated to academic rigor and civic leadership, preparing students for the path to colleges and careers of their choosing. We are unapologetically outcomes-driven, with an instructional model that emphasizes small-group learning, collaborative teaching teams, and robust coaching and professional development, all within a culture rooted in joy, belonging, and authentic relationships.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a member of our Early Childhood Academy, you will help our youngest learners build curiosity, confidence, and independence in a joyful and nurturing environment. As a Permanent Substitute Teacher, you will provide consistent instructional support and classroom coverage across Pre-K and Kindergarten, ensuring students continue to experience meaningful learning, strong relationships, and predictable routines when teachers are absent. In this role, you will:

Instructional Delivery & Classroom Coverage

  • Step into classrooms across Pre-K and Kindergarten, adapting to different classroom teams, student needs, and daily assignments.
  • Implement established lesson plans and support developmentally responsive instruction in early literacy, early math, and social-emotional learning.
  • Facilitate whole-group, small-group, and center-based learning, maintaining instructional momentum and providing individualized support.

Student Support & Classroom Culture

  • Work with classroom teams to maintain joyful, structured, and learning-focused environments that support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Provide emotional constancy by responding calmly and consistently to student needs, reinforcing classroom expectations, and helping students navigate transitions.
  • Support students during breakfast, lunch, and daily routines, promoting safety, independence, and positive peer interactions.

Data-Informed Instruction & Continuity

  • Use checks for understanding, student work, and observations to adjust support and respond to students’ learning needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teams to review formative and summative assessment data and differentiate instruction.
  • Communicate student progress, classroom updates, and follow-up needs to teachers so that learning and support remain consistent across coverage transitions.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Partner with teachers and instructional support staff to understand classroom plans, student needs, and shared responsibilities.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and team collaboration to strengthen instructional practice and contribute to academy priorities.
  • Receive regular, individualized coaching from IP’s instructional leadership team and apply feedback to improve instruction, classroom management, and student support.
