VFX Supervisor

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced VFX Supervisor to lead and oversee the visual effects for our film and television productions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both creative and technical aspects of VFX, ensuring the seamless integration of digital elements into live-action footage. This role requires close collaboration with directors, producers, and post-production teams to achieve the highest level of visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Production Planning: Work with directors and production designers to determine the best VFX solutions for storytelling, including previsualization and concept development.
- On-Set Supervision: Oversee VFX shoots, ensuring proper data collection (HDRI, LIDAR scans, camera tracking, lighting reference) and working with cinematographers to plan shots effectively.
- Post-Production Oversight: Supervise the integration of CGI, matte paintings, compositing, and other VFX elements to ensure seamless final shots.
- Pipeline and Workflow Management: Ensure an efficient VFX workflow by coordinating between production teams, post-production houses, and in-house VFX artists.
- Budget & Scheduling: Work closely with producers to estimate costs, manage VFX budgets, and maintain project timelines without compromising quality.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage VFX artists and technical teams, providing guidance, feedback, and creative problem-solving.
- Quality Control: Ensure all VFX elements meet the highest visual and technical standards required for feature films and TV series.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a VFX Supervisor on major film or television productions.
- Deep knowledge of industry-standard software (Houdini, Nuke and Shotgrid).
- Strong understanding of compositing, CGI integration, lighting, rendering, and FX simulations.
- Experience with on-set VFX supervision, including green screen, motion capture, and virtual production techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong showreel or portfolio showcasing high-end VFX work.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining creative and technical excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with virtual production and real-time rendering technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages Python for pipeline automation.
BC Pay Range
$55 - $70 CAD
