Our Vancouver office is seeking experienced FX Houdini Artists to work alongside members of the CG Department and work collaboratively with our Compositing Department on a variety of traditional and complex particle and dynamics based visual effects work. This work is including but not limited to rigid bodies, smoke, fire, liquids, and lightning. We are looking for those who will balance both technical and creative needs to creating compelling, realistic visual effects.

Two positions are available to be filled.

Responsibilities:

  • Create well organized tools, scripts, and set-ups to facilitate efficient or automated workflows that can be used by other members of the crew; 
  • Work on a wide range of tasks including: hard surface modeling, kitbashing, organic modeling, sculpting, texturing in Mari or Substance Painter, shading, and lighting; and
  • Create physics-based effects such as fire, smoke, water, and various kinds of destruction based on real-world simulation or objects.

 

Requirements:

  • Expertise in water and ocean simulation, including atmospheric conditions, wave generation, and light interaction;
  • Asset development (HDA’s) and technical troubleshooting;
  • A balance of both technical and creative needs to create compelling, realistic visual effects;
  • Excellent knowledge of Houdini;
  • Strong problem solving and math skills;
  • Extensive experience building digital assets;
  • A strong understanding of physics and natural phenomena;
  • The ability to multitask and work productively in a high-pressure environment;
  • The ability to take direction well and implement feedback with a positive attitude;
  • Troubleshooting and proactive and resourceful problem solving; and
  • The ability to create well-organized tools, scripts, and set-ups to facilitate efficient or automated workflows that can be used by other members of the crew.

 

*All qualified candidates are required to take and pass our FX Artists Test.

BC Pay Range

$32 - $42 CAD
