
Hub Data Steward
Job Purpose/Overview:
Responsible for managing the efficient acquisition, ingestion, and maintenance of key data streams that support analytics initiatives for the organization, enabling data scientists to build data solutions and capabilities to solve business problems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accurate and timely execution of data ingestion routines across multiple data sources including internal systems, vendor feeds, patient services platforms, and commercial data providers.
- Monitor, validate, and document data workflows and transfer processes, ensuring alignment with business rules, SLAs, and compliance requirements.
- Perform data quality checks, identify anomalies, and work with upstream data owners and engineering teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Maintain and enforce data definitions, naming conventions, and business rules to support standardized usage across the analytics ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with analytics, operations, and IT teams to support data readiness for reporting, modeling, and dashboarding needs.
- Maintain clear and auditable documentation of data lineage, transformations, and validation protocols, enabling traceability from source to output.
- Identify and escalate data integrity issues or feed failures proactively; troubleshoot and resolve ingestion errors to minimize downstream disruption.
- Support the onboarding of new data sources, including ingestion design, file validation, and integration with master data frameworks.
- Assist in the development of automated routines and checks to streamline data ingestion and quality control processes.
- Act as a key liaison between business users and technical teams, translating data requirements and ensuring data usability for analytics and reporting.

Technical Capabilities:
- Strong working knowledge of data integration tools and processes, including flat file ingestion, APIs, SFTP automation, and database loading routines.
- Proficient in writing and debugging SQL queries for data validation, auditing, and profiling activities across multiple relational data systems.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Alteryx, Informatica, Talend, Matillion, dbt) or custom ingestion scripts using Python or shell scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to execute data quality assurance routines, including completeness checks, duplication logic, business rule enforcement, and exception flagging.
- Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management tools and principles.
- Understanding of healthcare and pharmaceutical data structures, such as patient support program data, claims feeds, EHR extracts, or specialty pharmacy distributions, is preferred.
- Proficient in documentation of data mapping, transformation logic, and ingestion pipelines to ensure transparency and auditability.
- Comfort with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to assist in developing QA dashboards or issue-monitoring visualizations.
- Basic familiarity with data governance practices, including master data management, data stewardship workflows, and compliance alignment (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11).
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related quantitative or technical discipline.
- 3–6 years of professional experience in a data stewardship, data operations, data quality, or data management role—preferably within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences
- Hands-on experience with data ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows, particularly involving third-party vendor feeds, claims data, or patient support services.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL for querying, profiling, and validating data across relational databases.
- Experience working with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Alteryx, Informatica, Talend, dbt) and comfort supporting automated ingestion processes and data pipelines.
- Familiarity with data quality best practices, including exception handling, data reconciliation, and source-to-target validation.
- Strong understanding of common pharma data domains such as benefit verification, copay enrollment, prior authorizations, dispensing data, or call center feeds.
- Ability to analyze data issues, document root causes, and work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders to resolve them.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail, especially in managing and documenting metadata, file specifications, and QA processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; able to convey technical data issues in a business-relevant context.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple data feeds and prioritize daily QA activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant data handling and knowledge of relevant data privacy and regulatory standards (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11) is preferred.
- Must be able to work with large datasets in different formats
- Must be a proactive and critical thinker who can take initiatives and reveal trends and patterns in data
- Ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
Compensation
$95,000 - $115,000 USD
