Reports to: CFO

Role Summary:

As a Controller at our fast-paced fintech, you will play a crucial role in building and managing our accounting processes at scale with our growth. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accounting leader in tech, preferably in a senior role with responsibilities spanning the management and maintenance of financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. A strong communicator, the Controller will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leaders, providing valuable insights and supporting strategic decision-making processes. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining current on proposed legislation, industry trends, and best practices
  • Create and maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s financial position and be able to provide actionable insights
  • Establish and maintain relationships with financial partners including external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and investors
  • Provide support to the executive team in strategic decision-making through comprehensive financials, analysis, and insights
  • Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Lead a small team of direct and indirect reports, providing oversight, mentorship, and direction
  • Work with other departments to help automate processes and improve data integrity

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience as a Controller or similar role (management) in corporate or public accounting
  • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite)
  • Fluent in G-Suite applications (eg. Google Sheets) and Microsoft applications (eg. Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Active CPA license
  • Familiarity with database systems (eg. MySQL)
  • Experience transitioning accounting data from canned reports to dynamic reporting

 

Work Environment:

  • The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
  • This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of in-person work at the physical office location in Austin, Texas

Salary:

  • $180,000-$210,000 plus Benefits
