About the Role
We’re seeing a Design Operations Lead (Design Program Manager/DesignOps) at Innovaccer, you will be the cornerstone of our Product Design and Research team's efficiency and creativity. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also dive into the details to optimize our design processes, ensuring they are both innovative and effective in the health/medical technology sector. This role does not have specific education or years of experience requirements, instead, candidates should be able to share compelling case studies showing how their work dramatically improved the product design process, focusing on time and money savings, team happiness and cohesion, quality improvements, etc. This is an “Individual Contributor Leadership” role the goal will be to hire a lead, have them understand the team and company needs, and work with the VP Product Design & Research, to define the growth of the Design Operations function, including staffing growth. Past experience managing small teams and a desire to do so again is important. This is a new role at Innovaccer, so there will be a need to educate others about the function of Design Operations. Depending on the past experience and interest this role could also manage “Design Horizontal” functions like Visual Design, Content Writing, Motion, etc.
A Day in the Life
- Your primary focus will be to drive continuous process improvement, ensuring that our workflows are efficient and effective. You'll seek out opportunities to enhance how our Design & Research teams collaborate internally and with other departments and functions, fostering a culture of seamless integration and high performance.
- You will lead efforts to redesign workflows, making them more transparent, automated, and efficient. Your focus will be on eliminating unnecessary complexities to enable the design team to concentrate on creating impactful solutions. By implementing these changes, you will play a crucial role in mitigating risks and boosting overall productivity, focus, and product quality.
- You will establish processes for quality improvements, ensuring that every project meets Innovaccer’s high standards. By defining best-in-class onboarding and continuous education programs, you will ensure that new team members are quickly integrated and existing team members continuously develop their skills.
- Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You will partner closely with all departments to refine and improve our internal processes. Your ability to communicate and influence across these teams will be critical in ensuring that design operations are seamlessly integrated with Innovaccer’s broader organizational goals.
- Innovation will be a constant pursuit. Staying abreast of industry trends, you will advocate for and adopt new tools and practices to enhance the team’s productivity and creativity. By doing so, you will ensure that Innovaccer remains a leader in the sector.
- Your ability to work flexibly across time zones will be crucial in bridging the gap between our teams in San Francisco, India, and the UAE. You will coordinate effectively with global teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration despite the geographical distance. This flexibility will enable you to build on the strengths of all teams, ensuring that projects are continuously moving forward..
What You Need
- Measurable metrics backed success utilizing your skills to improve product quality, simplifying design and approval processes, cross-functional enablement, including management of design operations, large-scale and long term project and programme management, design systems, roadmap planning, etc.
- Deep understanding of the product design process, past experience working with UX/Product Designer, and understanding of the end-to-end design process in the context of B2B, B2C, or SaaS product spaces.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a data-driven approach to problem-solving. Proficiency in design and project management tools such
- Proven ability to lead and mentor, and inspire teams, with strong coaching and mentoring skills and concrete examples of leading through influence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with all levels of management and staff, ability to switch from smoothing onboarding a new designer to presenting effectively at an executive meeting
- Ability and interest in traveling to our international offices on an as needed basis.
Ideal Candidates would also have
- Experience in the health/medical technology sector
- Experience working with teams building and utilizing artificial intelligence products and tools
- Candidates who bring diverse perspectives, backgrounds, or experiences, such as those from non-traditional fields or industries. We value individuals who can enrich our team with unique insights and innovative approaches.
- Design education (e.g. Graphics/Communications, Architecture, Marketing)
- Past work with mid-to-late stage startups, in growth phase
- Experience working with “Design Horizontal” teams such as Content Design, Research, Design Systems, both internal, and 3rd party external service providers.
