CONTRACT ROLE

Insomniac is looking for a writer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing original treatments, stories, scripts, and dialogue for assigned game project. This role provides a key component of the studio's mission to create games that have a positive and lasting impact on people's lives by writing compelling stories and by modeling great collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Works with Creative Director, story team, and other production members to develop characters, plot, and key storytelling moments.
• Writes scripts for games with emphasis on complete description of scenes and characters (camera moves, facial expressions, sets, lighting, etc.)
• Writes scripts for real-time and cinematics sequences, and coordinates with various groups to get them implemented.
• Participates in writer’s room sessions for brainstorming, story development, and narrative problem solving.
• Regularly reviews scripts by other writers and gives thoughtful feedback.
• Provides notes and feedback to other production departments to shape and hone the expression of story.
• Responds to notes from and works closely with brand and publishing partners to achieve story goals.
• Writes a variety of dialogue for AI and emergent gameplay events.
• Works closely with the production team to create and implement in-game moments to reinforce the story arc.
• Writes game trailers and other extraneous projects as necessary (examples: marketing pieces, web content, etc.)
• Assists in writing all text and dialogue in game (menus, descriptions, etc.)
• Maintains schedule and scope during various stages of production.
• Demonstrates an understanding of resource limitations and works closely with other production departments to find elegant solutions to complex story problems.
• Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Other Skills:

  • Able to build rapport with other departments and be comfortable with changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adept at learning new and proprietary tools and procedures.
  • Sets a good example as a communicator, collaborator, and teammate, both internally and across disciplines.
  • Has a passion for games and game narratives.
