About The Team

The Environment Art internship at Insomniac Games is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in game production. Interns will work in a fast-paced, creative studio environment and learn how to bring immersive worlds to life. Throughout the summer, you’ll collaborate with experienced artists, contribute to real game environments, and be mentored through the Insomniac process for creating high-quality environment art.

By the end of the internship, you’ll have a AAA game credit for your resume and practical experience in professional environment art production.

What You’ll Do

  • Polish assets and optimize them for in-game performance

  • Use Substance Designer/Painter, Maya, ZBrush, and proprietary tools

  • Model and texture props and modular assets from scratch

  • Create procedural materials for diverse environments

  • Build worlds directly in-engine

  • Collaborate with the team to deliver production milestones

What We’re Looking For

  • Current enrollment in an accredited university Undergraduate program pursuing a B.F.A. in Computer Art, Illustration, Game Design, Product Design, or equivalent, with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027. 

  • Strong foundational and production design skills

  • Proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Designer

  • Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and responsible individuals with a passion for video games and art

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between May 2025 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Undergraduate

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
