About IRL

Researchers at UC Berkeley have identified a “100,000-year data gap” - the gulf between what trained AI language models and what physical robots actually have to learn from. Closing that gap is the defining infrastructure challenge of the physical AI era. IRL is Instawork’s answer to it. Role Overview

We are building one of India's largest commercial video data collection networks. As a Zonal Data Captain, you will own the business pipeline for your assigned zone. Your primary responsibility is to find businesses, convert them for on-site video data collection, and keep the recording engine in your territory active every single day. You will spend your days in the field meeting business owners, converting them, and expanding into new towns mapped to your zone.

Core Compensation & Target

  • Fixed Salary: ₹25,000 / month

  • Performance Incentives: Up to ₹95,000 / week*

  • Core Target: 8 business conversions / day

*Incentive Note: Incentives are performance-based and linked to verified conversions, recorded hours generated from your converted businesses, and quality/consistency of execution. All conversions and hours are subject to verification before payout. A detailed slab structure will be shared at the offer stage.

What You'll Do

1. Business Pipeline Building (Your Core Job)

  • Daily Target: Convert a minimum of 8 new businesses every day for commercial video data collection.

  • Target Segments: Prioritize multi-worker and 2-shift environments: factories, manufacturing units, workshops, service centers, commercial kitchens, warehouses, printing & packaging units, and facility management operations.

  • Data Integrity: Complete the business conversion form accurately and fully for every single conversion on the same day.

  • Verification: Every conversion is verified. A converted business means a real, reachable business that is scheduled and ready for recording.

⚠️ CRITICAL PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Any week with fewer than 50 converted businesses (~8/day) is a failure to execute the core requirement of this role and will result in termination.

2. Territory Scouting & Expansion

  • Map and expand into nearby towns and industrial clusters assigned to your zone.

  • Identify new commercial categories and corridors with high recording potential.

  • Build corridor-level knowledge: identify which streets, estates, and clusters hold the densest concentration of qualifying businesses.

3. Recording-Day Support

  • Provide timely updates to your internal coordinator on pipeline status, scheduled recordings, and on-ground issues.

  • Support field operations on recording days at the businesses you converted. Resolve owner concerns, access issues, and scheduling conflicts on the spot.

  • Maintain relationships to ensure a business stays warm throughout its entire recording cycle.

Role Requirements

  • Language Skills: Native fluency in the local language of the zone, plus working English or Hindi.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Field Sales Executive, Business Development Executive, or equivalent field-facing role.

  • Network: Existing network of business owners in the region. You should be able to name and reach real business owners in your territory (this will be verified during the interview).
