Associate Partner, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)

Our team

A core contributing factor to the influence Instiglio has had thus far includes our collaborative, highly skilled and diverse team. We are a team of 100+ people, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco, Mauritius and the USA. Our team of practitioners has extensive development and government experience, including previous roles in international development banks, management consulting, national governments, multilateral agencies, INGOs and academia.  

How you will make an impact

You will focus your leadership on taking our impact, portfolio, team,  and operations in the LAC region to the next level. Our work in the region is primarily delivered through our Bogotá office, which has doubled in size in the past three years. You will deepen our work in Colombia and lead our expansion to other prioritized countries and throughout the region. You will increase Instiglio’s presence, proximity, and influence with other actors in the region such as governments, multilateral organizations, donors, think tanks, and academia.

 

You will also be an integral part of Instiglio’s leadership team, supporting Instiglio as an organization to make smart and effective decisions on growth, strategy, and sustainability. As an Associate Partner, you will be an ambassador for Instiglio’s mission in LAC and beyond. 

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Strategy: As a member of our LAC Leadership Team, you will work jointly with a Partner to develop our regional strategy, with the aim of growing our impact and operations in the region, delivered through our Bogotá office. This will include determining how and where we should invest to scale the most impact in LAC: in which countries, in which sectors, with which partners, and with which methods and services.
  • Leading the team: Work with our people team and local management team to build a high-performing team, both in our existing office, as well as leading our expansion to new offices in the region.
  • Business development/Sourcing: Work with a Partner to drive business development in LAC, developing and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and partners including multilateral institutions, governments, and philanthropies to deliver high impact initiatives in the region.
  • Project leadership: Providing strategic, technical and team leadership in our projects to deliver maximum social impact and exceed client expectations.
  • Thought leadership and brand positioning: Evolving our thinking and practices and communicating them publicly through publishing and speaking at events and conferences. Partner with our communications team to position Instiglio with relevant audiences in the region, and increase Instiglio’s presence, proximity, and influence within the regional and relevant global ecosystems (governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, think tanks, philanthropies, and other partners).
  • Organizational development: In addition to being a steward of our culture, oversee the performance, growth and overall health of specific organizational units or teams. This supervisory role aims to ensure high levels of team performance, team health and wellbeing, and appropriate growth strategies and operational support systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: A relevant master’s degree focused on international development (public administration, public policy, development economics, governance and institutions).
  • Experience:
    • At least 12 years of experience, including 8 years of relevant work experience in international development, in the public sector, in management consulting, and/or in development policy.
    • Demonstrated experience in government institutional reforms and or/transformation.
    • Demonstrated experience in evidence-based policy design, results-based financing, delivery management, and/or performance management or related fields.
    • Successful track record in sourcing and managing clients and partners (multiple stakeholders in complex settings).
    • Extensive experience growing and managing teams.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional strategic thinking and commercial acumen. Strong organizational oversight and continually looking to add value.
    • Proven experience managing and maintaining relationships with public sector leaders. The ideal candidate will bring their own personal relationships built on trust with civil servants in the region to the role.
    • Outstanding problem-solving and structured thinking skills.
    • Excellent project management skills, managing multiple teams at complex tasks.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills including proven success in presenting ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively.
    • Leadership skills and empathy with the ability to influence people positively.
    • Impact-driven, resilient, results-oriented.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English, with desirable proficiency in Spanish.

 

In Addition, We Welcome The Following Desirable Qualifications:

  • Work experience in management consulting.
  • Strong operational and financial management experience.
  • Knowledge of Results-Based Financing mechanisms and/or experience related to the field.

The Associate Partner will shape the LAC portfolio and team, and the wider regional trajectory.

Additionally, a mentorship system and development plans are in place to ensure that staff receive proper support in their professional development.
