About the consultancy opportunities

Instiglio aims to create a selective database of mission-driven consultants that our project teams can engage to support project delivery across a number of sectors (education, health, climate/ energy, and displaced persons/ migration), project types, and countries. Consultants will play a critical role in the execution of Instiglio’s projects and our impact on the ground, supporting teams in developing rigorous and context-driven assessments, strategies, and designs for our clients. Given the different technical and time-duration nature of potential assignments, Instiglio is looking for consultants of varying ability, experience, and expertise across two general profiles:

• Sector Specialists
• International Development Consultants

Shortlisted consultants will be incorporated into our Consultant Roster database and will be contacted on an as-needed basis over the next 24 months when project opportunities match their experience and skillset. Inclusion in the Consultant Roster does not represent a guarantee of consultancy engagement with Instiglio. 

If selected for a specific consultancy engagement, the remuneration will be commensurate with each candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skills as well as the nature of the assignment in terms of the responsibilities and complexities of the assignment and the degree of expertise required. Consultants selected for project engagements will be contracted on a fixed-term basis for the duration of the agreed-upon engagement and will not be considered staff of Instiglio. The work location will be determined based on the specific project needs with the potential for remote consultancy engagements on many of Instiglio’s projects.

Instiglio’s mission is to unlock the full impact potential of governments to deliver meaningful outcomes for their citizens. We support our partners to integrate results-based approaches into delivery systems and practices, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of public and development finance. Over the last 10 years, we have influenced practices, capabilities, and policy frameworks of governments and development institutions, delivering over 100 projects in 30 low- and middle-income countries aimed at improving the outcomes of development programs. This work has covered a diverse range of sectors, including education, livelihoods, workforce development, health, energy, water and sanitation, gender, migration and climate, shaping the deployment of hundreds of millions of dollars. 

Some of our important milestones include advising the design and implementation of the world's first Outcomes Fund (poverty graduation, Kenya and Uganda); the launch of performance-based contracts with governments in Africa (employability, Morocco); structuring a $60 million results-based transfer system for local school districts (education, Peru), and facilitating Millennium Challenge Corporation’s effective use of Results-based Financing (RBF) through a multi-year, large-scale strategic partnership. 

Instiglio has a collaborative, highly skilled, and impact-driven team of 70+ permanent team members, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco, and the USA. Our team of practitioners has extensive development, consultancy, and government experience, including previous roles in international development banks, national governments, multilateral agencies, INGOs, social enterprises, and academia.
