Insurity’s Next Senior Software Engineer
The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds, deploys, and supports modern software solutions across front-end, back-end, APIs, integrations, and data layers. This is a senior hands-on engineering role for someone who can deliver production-grade solutions, mentor others, and operate effectively across the full software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate also brings meaningful experience with AI or agentic engineering practices, either through AI-enabled product capabilities or AI-assisted development workflows.
What Our Senior Software Engineer Will Do
Participate in SDLC estimation and development processes.
Design
- Design solutions to problems/defects independently
- Participate in team design sessions for large-scale development
After 18 Months:
- Able to understand and develop use cases to supplement business cases for technical development items
Development
- Follows Insurity standards for coding, documentation and impact assessments
- Provides in-depth technical troubleshooting and defect remediation for reported problems requiring a high degree of technical expertise
- Develop technical documentation for software solutions for targeted audience, which may include external customers
- Develop solutions for moderately complex problems and enhancements individually or leading a small team
- Estimate projects and solutions of simple to moderate complexity
Test
- Write code and unit tests according to Insurity standards, following an approved technical solution, for moderately complex enhancements and bug fixes
- Develop unit tests for code changes and assigned use cases
- Work with QA to identify impact and assist with test case development
- Implement and test complex business rules
- Create scripting for application configuration functions in support of customer projects
Documentation
- Able to comment code
- Create an impact assessment doc
- Prepare and present a technical solution e.g. with PowerPoint
- Stay up-to-date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading
- Other duties as assigned
Who We’re Looking For
- 8+ years’ experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
- Proven ability to design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and support production-grade full-stack applications
- Strong front-end experience with TypeScript, React and/or Angular, component-based design systems, responsive design, reusable components, and accessibility practices
- Strong back-end experience with C#, modern .NET, and ASP.NET Core, including secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable services and APIs
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, event-driven interfaces, asynchronous workflows, secure identity and authorization patterns, and third-party integrations
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, performance-aware data access, caching, asynchronous processing, and scalable data patterns
- Experience delivering secure, cloud-based, observable, and production-ready systems using CI/CD, version control, automated testing, secure coding, telemetry, and reliability practices
- Strong understanding of unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing, debugging, release planning, production support, and continuous improvement
- Ability to contribute to solution design, estimation, architecture decisions, code reviews, technical documentation, deployment planning, and operational readiness
- Ability to own features through production and identify and address technical debt, security risks, performance issues, scalability constraints, and quality gaps
- Experience with modular monoliths, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, feature flags, progressive delivery, and automated rollback
- Experience integrating complex business workflows, third-party platforms, APIs, and identity providers
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, analysis, documentation, or code review, or delivering AI-enabled product capabilities
- Exposure to model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, workflow orchestration, evaluation, guardrails, observability, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, design feedback, and code reviews
- Ability to work effectively with product, architecture, UX, QA, DevOps, platform engineering, analysts, and business stakeholders across globally distributed teams, including planned overlap with North American stakeholders
- Experience in enterprise insurance or other regulated software domains is desirable but not required
