Our AI agent Fin, the most advanced customer service AI agent on the market, lets businesses deliver always-on, impeccable customer service and ultimately transform their customer experiences for the better. Fin can also be combined with our Helpdesk to become a complete solution called the Intercom Customer Service Suite, which provides AI enhanced support for the more complex or high touch queries that require a human agent.

What's the opportunity?

We are looking for another tax team member to join a lean but high-impact Finance organization at an exciting moment of global growth and transformation. As a key member of the Finance team, you will help support the next wave of Intercom's expansion while playing an active role in shaping how our tax function evolves; not just through compliance and process, but by embracing the AI-driven tools and approaches that are redefining how modern finance teams operate. Working closely with the Director of Tax, you'll collaborate with smart, hard-working individuals across the organization to resolve complex tax matters and drive meaningful process improvements. This role is based in Europe and will have a particular focus on our EMEA operations; complementing the work of our US-based Tax Manager, with responsibilities split across regions and balanced across the team as the business grows. We're seeking someone who thrives at pace, is genuinely excited about embracing new technologies including AI, and isn't content with "how it's always been done." You'll have significant visibility and influence on the direction of our global tax function; and the opportunity to help build something better for the future.

What will I be doing?

  • Tax Accounting & Compliance - Oversee preparation and review of income tax provisions (IAS 12) and returns across EMEA jurisdictions, working closely with our third-party tax service providers to ensure timely, accurate completion of all compliance requirements
  • Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) - Own and manage indirect tax filings across European jurisdictions with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement to reduce compliance risk
  • Tax Calendar & Operations - Manage the EMEA tax calendar, maintaining due dates for filings and payments, and coordinating document flow across external service providers
  • Tax Forecast - Collaborate with the FP&A team to develop and maintain accurate tax expense forecasts and estimates, and advise stakeholders on the tax implications of business decisions
  • Tax Incentives - Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, document, and claim tax incentives in a timely and accurate manner, with a focus on European frameworks (e.g., Ireland and UK R&D credits)
  • Process Innovation - Lead implementation of process and technology enhancements (including AI tools and automation) to create more scalable, efficient workflows; actively challenge the status quo and set new standards for how tax work gets done
  • Special Projects - Support additional initiatives as they arise, including tax audits, new market or product launch research, and cross-functional projects

What skills do I need?

  • We're looking for a collaborative self-starter with a genuine growth mindset; someone who independently owns their work end-to-end, actively seeks out better ways of doing things, and is energized by the possibilities that AI and new technologies bring to the finance function
  • 5+ years of multinational corporate tax experience in either (both highly desired):
    • Tax Accounting & Compliance (IAS 12 or ASC 740)
    • Indirect tax (VAT/GST)
  • Demonstrated curiosity and openness to leveraging AI tools, automation, or emerging technologies to improve how tax work gets done; experience with tax technology (e.g., Avalara, NetSuite, or similar) a plus
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills - able to act as the primary tax contact for Finance and business stakeholders, explaining complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax audiences
  • Proven ability to manage external advisors and service providers effectively
  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CPA, or equivalent), preferred
  • Experience with European tax jurisdictions — particularly Ireland and/or the UK — strongly preferred
