Accounting assistant

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate accounting and administrative operations. Accounting responsibilities include booking journal entries, maintaining general ledger, account reconciliation and analysis. Under management’s direction, interact with other departments of the company, internal audit and the company’s independent accounting firm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides Accounting and Bookkeeping Support including:
    • Input/data entry in ERP.
    • Balancing and reconciling accounts.
    • Collect and maintain detailed records.
    • Performing analyses and verifying data for accuracy and completeness.
    • Filing and scanning GL reports and information.
  • Provides assistance on financial audits.
  • Maintains and updates assigned accounting schedules (including leases).
  • Preparation, and posting of recurrent and month-end journal entries.
  • Reconciliation of assigned accounts (including money orders).
  • Assists in the month-end/year-end closing processes.
  • Maintains fixed asset listing and depreciation calculation.
  • Compiles reports requested by management (including reports for property taxes).
  • Executes internal controls related to assigned areas and tasks.
  • Supports other Accounting team members.
  • Works on ad-hoc projects assigned by the Accounting Supervisor or Director of Accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a two year Associates degree in accounting, finance or related field. Bachelor degree, preferred
  • Three plus years of experience in accounting functions.
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and other relevant computer applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish (Preferred).
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and awareness is essential.
  • Knowledge of income and other indirect taxes, preferred.
