The Role: Machine Operator Level 1
Qualifications: Priority will be given to impacted core Vancouver staff holding a Seasonal Machine Operator or Machine Operator title looking to relocate to Toronto who confirm their interest by 12:00pm PST on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, and occasional overtime, holidays and weekends.
Reporting to the Room Manager, the Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, tearing down, cleaning, operating, and performing minor service to various pieces of production machinery. We will provide training with the vendors of the machine to ensure you are fully up to speed! What you do (responsibilities):
- Understand and demonstrate safe working practices and address any area of concern to Room Management when necessary
- Able to communicate and train staff following machine SOPs
- Execute set-ups, adjustments, disassembly, and routine cleaning/maintenance of all machines used
- Perform production processes as needed (packing, pouring, pressing, unmolding, picking orders, glittering, wrapping and labelling duties)
- Set-up and staging of materials, molds, and equipment needed for production purposes
- Responsible for carrying out duties effectively and efficiently to positively impact KPIs (fulfillment, material variance, safety stock, etc.)
- Supports new or returning staff as required with onboarding, demonstrations of daily duties and responsibilities while ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are being followed
- Perform general housekeeping and equipment cleaning duties as required
- Adhere to all Sustainability best practices (recycling, composting and waste management/reduction procedures)
- Understand the importance of and can accurately count product inventory when required
- Work efficiently and effectively towards agreed upon daily targets
- Maintain and update machine SOPs as required
Who you are (qualifications):
Required:
- Current Lush employee
- Previous Lush experience as a Machine Operator (seasonally or core)
- Health and safety competency
- Commitment to troubleshooting and resolving stops on machinery as needed
- Flexibility to work within the Distribution, Digital and Manufacturing businesses as required
- Able to perform all required Production Assistant duties
- Able to do physical work for 8-hour shifts, on your feet and lift 50 pounds
- Capable of physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending down, pulling, and pushing
- Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction
- Able to communicate effectively with others and work well in both individual and team environments
- Able to provide information to help improve processes and how to improve workflow
- Able to operate basic production equipment (small equipment, tools, etc.)
- Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual and dependable
- Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e. in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)
- Commitment to abide by and oversee good quality and good manufacturing practices
- Commitment to abide by and oversee health & safety regulations
Preferred:
- Priority will be given to impacted core Vancouver staff holding a Seasonal Machine Operator or Machine Operator title looking to relocate to Toronto who confirm their interest by 12:00pm PST on Friday, January 17, 2025
- Familiar with Lock Out / Tag out practices
- Technical aptitude/familiarity with machine processes
- Relevant work experience in a trade or machine operator
- Technical qualification/certification
- Computer proficiency, and familiarity with PLC controls
