Job Summary
LUSH Japan is looking for a passionate and strategic Graphic Designer to join our Brand Experiential Team. In this role, you will be responsible for visualizing the LUSH brand experience through creative and cohesive brand expressions across various touchpoints, including retail, digital, products, and events. You will lead the development and execution of immersive LUSH experiences, from initial concept to final implementation, ensuring consistency in brand messaging and tone.
As a Designer, you will collaborate closely with content teams (copy, video, 3D) and event teams to craft integrated creative outputs that seamlessly merge visuals and storytelling. Your challenge will be to push the boundaries of brand expression while maintaining coherence and enhancing the overall impact of each experience.
We’re looking for someone who is open to working in a bilingual environment, even if you’re not fluent in Japanese. Being comfortable collaborating with a diverse team and having a positive attitude towards overcoming language differences will help you thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Visual Concept Development and Leadership
- Take the lead in developing strategic visual concepts based on brand guidelines, delivering creative solutions that elevate LUSH’s brand presence.
- Oversee the creative direction across LUSH’s diverse touchpoints, including stores, digital platforms, events, and campaigns.
- Develop and implement visual strategies that align with company-wide event and marketing calendars, ensuring timely and consistent output.
- Foster collaboration with the UK headquarters and global teams to optimize visual strategies and maintain alignment with the brand’s global vision.
- Digital & Print Design Direction
- Lead the creative direction for digital content, including e-commerce assets, banners, and video content.
- Oversee the design and art direction of LUSH Times (brand media), ensuring consistent visual storytelling.
- Supervise creative production for packaging, promotional tools, and point-of-purchase (POP) displays, focusing on quality and brand alignment.
- Spatial & Fixture Design
- Direct the design of store displays, show windows, and event booths, creating visually impactful and engaging brand experiences.
- Collaborate with 3D designers and external partners to maximize the visual potential of retail and event spaces.
- Lead the end-to-end creative process, from concept development to installation, ensuring high-quality execution and consistency.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Mentor and guide designers to enhance their creative skills and maintain high standards of quality.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Retail, Event teams) to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining both creative quality and adherence to deadlines.
- Contribute to the development of creative processes and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in graphic design.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). ● Proven ability to develop creative concepts aligned with brand guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience directing multi-touchpoint creative projects (retail, print, digital).
- Leadership experience in mentoring and managing design teams. ● Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks effectively. ● Excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. ● A proactive mindset with a passion for creative problem-solving.
- Comfortable working in a bilingual environment and open to overcoming language barriers.
- Business-level English; beginner-level Japanese is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spatial and fixture design (SketchUp, Blender, Cinema 4D). ● Experience with UX/UI design (Figma, Sketch).
- Motion design skills (After Effects, Premiere) are a plus.
- English communication skills for collaborating with global teams.
- Passion for the LUSH brand and a strong sense of creativity.
