The Role: Team Leader - Contract 

Availability: Full-time, with the ability to work mornings and afternoons, and occasional overtime, holidays, and weekends.

Working alongside the Floor Supervisor, the Team Leader oversees the daily tasks within the department and organizes workflow to ensure departmental objectives are met in a manner consistent with our company standards. You will provide leadership, training, and support to the team to maintain a high level of service to our customers by delivering the freshest product available and maximizing overall fulfillment. What you do (Responsibilities):

  • Oversee a team of floor staff potentially exceeding 25 staff
  • Role model and coach floor staff to adhere to best practices, quality standards, and health and safety procedures
  • Deliver training to floor staff on all tasks, SOPs, and areas of responsibility
  • Identify and support floor staff in delivering routings to achieve room and department targets
  • Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and break periods
  • Supports new or returning staff as required with onboarding, demonstrations of daily duties and responsibilities, while ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are being followed
  • Provide relevant production and operations information to the Floor Supervisors regarding people, production, targets, and quality
  • Deliver timely feedback to floor staff on performance
  • Set the pace of production, picking, packing, shipping, and receiving
  • Organize, assign, and delegate daily tasks, activities, and workflow to the floor staff
  • Ensure a high level of motivation through coaching and feedback provided to the floor staff
  • Escalate significant performance issues to Floor Supervisors
  • Effectively manage conflict and difficult conversations as needed

 

Who you are (Qualifications):

Required:

  • Current Lush employee
  • Able to perform all required Production Assistant duties
  • Able to do physical work for 8-hour shifts, on your feet, and lift 50 pounds
  • Capable of physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending down, pulling, and pushing
  • Flexibility to work within the Distribution, Digital, and Manufacturing businesses as required
  • Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction
  • General understanding of routings, compounding, production lines, and processes
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual, and dependable
  • Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e., in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)
  • Comfortable providing and receiving feedback
  • Commitment to abide by and oversee health & safety regulations
  • Commitment to abide by and oversee our quality and good manufacturing practices

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Lush Team Leader/Trainer (seasonal or core)
  • Capable of performing basic AX functions
  • Proven track record in training, coaching, and developing employees
  • General understanding of in-room operations (i.e., routings/metrics, compounding, production lines, processes)
  • Experience working in Manufacturing and/or Distribution
  • Previous Lush experience working as a Seasonal Team Leader 
  • Accustomed to working in a highly seasonal, high-pressure environment
  • Flexible to work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business
  • Able to navigate email, MS Office suite, and Google programs (i.e., Sheets, Chat, Meet) 
  • Familiar with Employment Standards and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
