What you'll do:
As a People Operations Intern, you will support various HR functions, assisting with administrative and operational tasks within the HR Business Partner team. This position will assist the People Operations Specialists and HR Business Partners by providing support on HR-related questions, programs, policies and reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, motivated, and a dependable team player. To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with regard to all matters.
The opportunity:
- 8 month work-term beginning Jan 2026.
- Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

How you'll make an impact:
- Provide administrative support to the PO Specialist & HR Business Partners on various HR functions, including but not limited to, reporting, preparing various letters, participating in investigations, compensation activities and other end of year activities.
- Assist People Operations Specialists in being the first point of contact for Canadian, US-based and Global employee inquiries & documenting issues and providing instructions on next steps.
- Support HRBPs during sensitive processes like terminations and job eliminations by assisting with documentation preparation.
- Observe and learn from HR Business Partner interactions with employees and managers, understanding the dynamics of employee relations and coaching.
- Assist in facilitating and preparing requests for relocation, professional development, and engagement toolkits.
- Support the People Operations Specialist with conducting exit interviews and assist with summarizing trends and observations for HRBPs.
- Support People Operations process development and process improvement initiatives, identifying efficiencies and suggesting improvements.
- Assist with updates and suggestions for content for the Canadian/Global HR guides (Handbooks) and Internal HR Wiki.
- Assist HR Business Partners and HR Specialists in collaborating with HR data teams to generate DayForce reports.
- Maintain knowledge of legislative requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to ensure compliance.
- Participate actively in various HR programs, taskforces, projects, and initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to Geotab policies on Google sharing rights to confidential HR/employee information.
- Support global strategic initiatives of the People Operations team.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Completing a post-secondary degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills, as well as a willingness to learn and strong work ethic.
- Passion for technology, innovation, talent acquisition and human resources.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at a time.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all HR-related information.
- Familiarity with Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides) is an asset.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
- No previous formal HR experience required, but academic coursework or prior HR work experience is an asset.
