Lab Assistant
Start your career in clinical laboratory services as a Lab Assistant for Pathology Services in North Platte. Schedule
Full-time | Monday – Friday | 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Includes one-hour unpaid lunch)
Pay
Starting at $18 per hour, based on education and experience

What You’ll Do
- Support Lab Operations
- Assist clinical lab and technical staff with pre-analytical laboratory processes
- Support daily laboratory workflows to ensure timely and accurate testing
- Phlebotomy & Specimen Handling
- Perform phlebotomy procedures
- Receive, label, and properly handle specimens
- Prepare and manage laboratory send-out specimens
- Administrative & Computer Tasks
- Perform order entry and clerical/computer-based duties
- Maintain accurate documentation to support laboratory operations
- Quality & Accuracy
- Follow established laboratory procedures to ensure specimen integrity and accurate results
- Maintain attention to detail in all aspects of work
- Adapt and Grow
- Learn new laboratory processes and systems
- Take on additional responsibilities as skills and knowledge develop
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Laboratory, phlebotomy, or healthcare experience preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Highly dependable with consistent and reliable attendance
- Motivated, quick learner with interest in clinical laboratory work
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the laboratory for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to handle specimens, lab tools, and computer equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Visual and auditory ability to read labels, identify specimens, and communicate clearly
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to access laboratory equipment and supplies

This position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series.
