Scientist in Histotechnology (Histotechnologist) (HTL) – Surgical Pathology

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Interpath Laboratory is opening a new, state-of-the-art anatomic pathology laboratory in Omaha and is seeking an experienced Scientist in Histotechnology (HTL) to join our surgical pathology team. This role will include grossing approved specimens and processing non-GYN and GYN cytology samples in a reference lab environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new operation from the ground up while working in a collaborative, quality-driven setting.
What You’ll Do
- Perform gross examination and dissection of approved surgical pathology specimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform tissue processing on Sakura VIP 6 processors.
- Process GYN and non-GYN samples using Hologic cytology systems and Sakura Prisma platforms.
- Embed tissue, perform microtomy using Leica microtomes, and support routine histology workflows.
- Perform H&E staining on Sakura Prisma platforms.
- Perform special stains and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on Roche BenchMark ULTRA PLUS and BenchMark Special Stains platforms.
- Accession specimens and maintain accurate documentation within the laboratory information system.
- Perform digital slide scanning using Leica imaging systems.
- Support cytology workflows utilizing the Hologic Genius Imaging System.
- Conduct routine quality control, basic troubleshooting, and instrument maintenance.
- Prepare reagents, manage inventory, and maintain documentation.
- Adhere to CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework meeting CLIA high complexity requirements.
- HTL (ASCP) certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in surgical pathology or reference laboratory histology.
- Demonstrated competency in surgical pathology grossing activities.
- Experience with GYN and non-GYN cytology techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
General Physical Requirements
Regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.
Typically Stands for extended period of times.
Lift up to 25 pounds.
Mobility to climb stairs on a regular basis.
Wearing appropriate protective gear: Lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield.
