Payroll Tax Accountant (Contract)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The main purpose of this position is to assist payroll by reversing/reissuing checks, running check printing, and balancing the taxes to be paid to state and federal agencies via ADP. They will work closely with the Payroll Tax Manager to ensure that all notices and discrepancies are reviewed and resolved. The role may also require the individual to occasionally work on special projects related to audits, reporting needs or other employment tax related items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understanding of multi-state employment tax concepts
  • Ensure tax files are transmitted to ADP timely
  • Reconcile taxes ADP is billing to payroll tax reports
  • Request wire for payment of taxes
  • Balance periodic/quarterly tax files/filings
  • Work with ADP to resolve any tax discrepancies
  • Track notices from state agencies using Excel
  • Assist with tax compliance testing and reporting
  • Assist with reporting needs to facilitate tax payments for miscellaneous taxes not paid by ADP or workers comp state payments
  • Review and track moving/relocation payments
  • Process payroll settlement, reversals and check re-issues
  • Review emails for actions necessary to facilitate tax registration requests
  • Review foreign vendor invoices for application of tax withholding
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Workday payroll experience
  • PeopleSoft payroll experience would be a plus but not necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word applications
  • Ability to interface well with other internal departments and outside vendors/Federal & State agencies
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
