Manager Collections & Cash Applications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage the workflow, employees, and day-to-day operations of the Collections and Cash Application departments. This position requires a great deal of intricate research, follow-up and coordination of responses from various departments and external sources. This role must maintain the highest level of customer service and deliver on set expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the timely and accurate daily application on the system of an estimated $10 billion of annual cash receipts.
- Manage and develop a team of 15 Collections and Cash Application employees.
- Ensure that the proper coding is identified as to where payments should be applied
- Act as back-up support for collections and cash application staff when department personnel are out of the office
- Capture, record, and forward departmental metrics to Process Improvement team
- Coordinate pulling of documentation for SOX compliance and annual audits
- Special research projects relating to collections or cash receipts
- Working Capital projections and variance analysis commentary
- Validate all exemption and reserve requests are done correctly and within network guidelines
- Research netting and I/C payment errors
- Keep up to date on document processes and overall procedures
- Continuously review and enhance processed to add client value and reduce costs
- Monitor metrics and adjust staffing as needing to maintain cost effective service to clients
- Monthly calls with agency finance directors or CFO’s to discuss status of their accounts
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred
- Five to seven years’ experience as a supervisor/manager is required
- Five to seven years’ experience with credit management and cash applications
- Ability to drive consensus among team members towards departmental objectives
- Excellent problem solving skills with analytical mindset towards processes
- Above average Word and an advanced level of Excel knowledge
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Above average written and oral communications skills
- Detail oriented
