Product Manager

Boston, MA

InterSystems HealthShare seeks strong product leaders to help create the next generation of solutions to highly important health and healthcare issues.

InterSystems HealthShare is the premier health interoperability and innovation platform, providing unique solutions for today’s widely distributed healthcare in which a single patient may connect to many providers at many locations using many different information systems. We combine and unify data from thousands of sources including all major electronic health records, social determinants, claims processors, public health, IoT devices, patient self-care and outcomes measures, and many more onto a flexible and powerful data platform. We transform, summarize, analyze, and communicate that information in many ways to address key clinical, strategic and operational problems. HealthShare provides a wide variety of clinical and operational solutions to a rapidly growing list of customers in the US and internationally, including providers, public health systems, state and national health organizations, health information exchanges, and development partners.

The HealthShare team is looking for an experienced Product Manager to define and drive the strategy for artificial intelligence across the HealthShare product suite. As a member of our team, this position will own the AI vision and roadmap for the platform — identifying where generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation can deliver the greatest value across our clinical and operational solutions, and working with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to bring those capabilities to our customers safely and responsibly. The product manager will combine portfolio-level strategy with hands-on product ownership, including backlog management and close collaboration with development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and champion the AI strategy and roadmap for the HealthShare product suite, ensuring a coherent approach to AI capabilities across products and solutions
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities to apply generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation to clinical, strategic, and operational problems faced by our customers
  • Act as product owner for AI-related development work, managing the backlog and working with software development, implementation, testing, support and sales to bring new AI features and products to successful release
  • Communicate with current and potential customers on a regular basis to understand their processes, needs, and appetite for AI-enabled workflows — translating these into product requirements and helping customers realize value from AI capabilities
  • Represent the “voice of the customer” internally in guiding the design of AI features, with particular attention to clinical safety, trust, transparency, and usability
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Product Management team to ensure AI capabilities integrate cohesively with the broader HealthShare product strategy and roadmap
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on AI in healthcare, including large language models, retrieval techniques, model evaluation, and responsible AI practices
  • Understand and advise internal and external audiences on relevant industry and regulatory trends affecting AI in healthcare, including evolving frameworks such as the EU AI Act and related guidance
  • Establish and monitor measures of AI feature quality, safety, adoption, and impact, and participate in studies of the impact of HealthShare AI solutions on quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Participate in the professional community, including attendance at national and international conferences

The ideal candidate will bring the following:

  • 5-10 years of product management experience, including demonstrated experience delivering AI or machine learning-enabled products
  • Experience defining product strategy across a portfolio or platform, in industry or with a healthcare organization
  • Demonstrated success in helping envision, design and bring products to completion
  • Experience working with customers or stakeholders to understand and refine product needs at all stages of product development
  • Working knowledge of modern AI technologies and practices, such as large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation, and MLOps
  • Experience with healthcare operations, information technology applications, data integration and interoperability, and analytics
  • Familiarity with the considerations involved in deploying AI in regulated, safety-critical healthcare environments, including data privacy, governance, and auditability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience presenting to both technical and business-oriented audiences
  • Ability to work successfully in both team and individual settings, with limited supervision
  • Experience with one or more of the following healthcare standards/technologies is an advantage: HL7 V2, CDA, FHIR, X12, IHE XDS, XCA, XDR, OMOP, OpenEHR

Education:

  • BS in health, technical, or business area or comparable experience required

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
