Software Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Kubernetes Developer to join our global infrastructure and platform engineering team, helping build software-driven automation for InterSystems Kubernetes-based managed services and SaaS platforms.
You will work with software engineers, Kubernetes architects, DevOps, SRE, and security teams to develop reliable, secure, production-ready platform capabilities. The role combines Go development with hands-on Kubernetes experience, with a focus on turning repeatable operational processes into maintainable platform software.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes-native software in Go, including controllers, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), reconciliation logic, and automation components.
- Build automation for provisioning, configuration, upgrades, scaling, recovery, and other managed service workflows.
- Write maintainable Go code and develop unit, integration, and cluster-based tests.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, packaging, and releasing Kubernetes platform software.
- Integrate with Kubernetes networking, storage, ingress, certificates, scheduling, security, and cluster lifecycle capabilities.
- Contribute to automation using Helm, Terraform, GitOps, Argo CD, Flux, and related tooling.
- Implement secure defaults, least-privilege RBAC, secrets handling, workload isolation, and operational guardrails.
- Build observable and supportable software using logs, metrics, events, health checks, and status conditions.
- Troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads, controller behaviour, failed reconciliations, deployments, and automation issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE, security, and application teams, and contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing.
Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, cloud engineering, or SRE.
- Experience developing in Go, or strong software engineering experience with the ability to work in Go.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes APIs, CRDs, controllers, reconciliation loops, RBAC, events, status conditions, and resource lifecycle.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and code review.
- Working knowledge of Helm, Terraform, GitOps, Argo CD, Flux, or similar tooling.
- Understanding of Kubernetes security concepts including RBAC, secrets, namespaces, network policies, admission controls, and workload isolation.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kubebuilder, Operator SDK, controller-runtime, client-go, or similar frameworks.
- Experience developing Kubernetes Operators, controllers, admission webhooks, or platform automation.
- Experience with EKS, AKS, GKE, Rancher, Spectro Cloud, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Fluent Bit, ELK/EFK, Istio, Linkerd, Cilium, Velero, Kasten, or Stash.
- Open-source contributions to Kubernetes, Go, cloud-native, or platform engineering projects.
- Relevant certifications such as CKAD, CKA, CKS, Terraform Associate, or LFCS.
