IonQ’s Senior Director, Global Head of Digital Marketing & Brand will architect, launch, and scale IonQ’s corporate digital marketing, brand, and paid media ecosystem across the globe. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for shaping how IonQ is experienced by engaging customers, prospects, investors, partners, current and future talent worldwide through our company-wide owned, shared and paid channels.

This leader will build a modern, AI-powered “top of the house” digital corporate marketing engine from the ground up, with immediate mandate to move quickly. The team will be intentionally lean and agile—designed for leaders who are energized by rolling up their sleeves, working side-by-side with partners across the entire company, and driving impact as the digital marketing platform scales.

This role has responsibility for Brand, Paid Social, Email and Digital Experience platforms, and partners deeply with video production, photography, creative agencies, and design talent to deliver a world-class, category-defining IonQ brand. This will accelerate IonQ’s mission to lead the quantum era by translating breakthrough science into practical solutions for the world’s most complex challenges.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, build, and lead a modern, best-in-class global digital corporate marketing and brand platform that positions IonQ as the quantum platform category leader
  • Own IonQ’s digital brand expression across all channels, including paid social, web, content, video, creative, and emerging platforms
  • Develop and execute an integrated global digital marketing strategy aligned to corporate business objectives, product commercialization, investor engagement, talent acquisition, and ecosystem partnerships
  • Working in tandem with Go-to-Market, Business Development, Sales, IonQ Federal, and Investor Relations, elevate IonQ’s value proposition and narrative to its customers, prospects, investors, and business partners across several industries, including financial services, pharmaceutical, space and defense, transportation, academia, logistics and supply chain to na
  • Translate persona-driven research and customer journey mapping along with complex quantum technology into clear, compelling, human-centered stories across various channels 
  • Oversee a cohesive, high-quality content and creative corporate distribution system, working closely with other Global Marketing and Communications disciplines and external partners across video, photography, design, and interactive experiences
  • Apply AI-enabled marketing tools, predictive analytics, and emerging technologies to optimize performance, personalization, and speed to market
  •  Partner with Go-to-Market, Sales and Business Development, and IonQ Federal in order to effectively market products and services through digital marketing channel efforts
  •  Align closely with External Communications, Internal Communications, Social Media, Content/Thought Leadership, Corporate Affairs/Government Relations, Investor Relations, Recruiting and Events, ensuring areas are joined up and maximizing return on investment
  • Define and manage metrics to determine effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives via digital marketing
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, identifying best practices across the company and opportunities to accelerate growth, differentiation and MarComms innovation
  • Develop value proposition definitions, strategy, creative development, execution and measurement of effective means to attract and engage customers and business partners, integrating online and offline channels and executing effectively across multiple channels. 
  • Collaborate and mentor a high performing team of internal and external MarComms experts and various design and creative freelancers, as needed, across various business and geographies; share best practices and create a “community” of digital marketing experts within newly acquired companies

 

You’d be a good fit with: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 15+ years of experience in digital marketing, branding or marketing in growth businesses
  • Proven experience building modern digital and brand capacities at scale, including strategic partnerships and acquisitions, customer experience, digital, customer service, performance marketing, content, brand and creative systems.
  • Experience defining the vision company-wide; deep experience around enhancing key capabilities, and building a lean team that works across many businesses simultaneously to design, re-engineer and digitize key customer journeys 
  • Demonstrated success translating highly complex products or services into compelling, differentiated narratives
  • Strategic business leader and partner, capable of integrating broad, divergent concepts into creative, impactful marketing initiatives and programs
  • Fully capable of working collaboratively at the highest levels throughout the company as well as external executive business partners and potential customers, orchestrating work across multiple business areas and parties globally
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, in a constantly evolving, growing company and under pressure without compromising a focus on deliverables, quality or responsiveness – successful experience managing demanding deadlines, changing requirements, and working with limited resources and information
  • Has pre-established network of ‘Go-to’ vendors and specialized firms in the digital marketing arena; is highly familiar and has working knowledge about Adobe, Salesforce and other companies products and services
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with effectively rolling out key strategic MarTech tools: Adobe, Google, Salesforce, Hubspot, DSP, DMP and BI Dashboard Tools

  • Marketing experience in deep technology, semiconductors, AI, cloud, advanced computing, financial services, or complex B2B platforms
  • MBA in Business, Marketing or Marketing Management preferred

 

Location: This role can work onsite or hybrid from our College Park, MD.  We are open to a fully remote option for the right candidate.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $169,869 - $221,514. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs.  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, Canada, and Basel, Switzerland.
