We are looking for multiple Financial Planning & Analysis Business Partners (FP&A BP) to support IonQ’s exciting trajectory, with a specific focus on our Compute Products, Quantum Networking, Sensing, and Security, and our Pricing and Revenue Desk. As an FP&A business partner, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team that works across IonQ departments to forecast, measure, visualize, and analyze financial aspects of our business. You will specifically support the engineering & technology teams, assisting with FP&A tasks like budget versus actual reports, budgeting and financial planning, and other ad-hoc analyses to support efficient business and financial operations.
In this role, you’ll have access to leaders throughout IonQ’s rapidly-growing organization and will partner with them to support the future of the company. You will also contextualize your work as a part of the broader finance team, where you will gain valuable skills and mentors to support your development as a finance professional. Responsibilities:
- Support leaders across IonQ in decision-making by providing financial analysis.
- Assist IonQ departments with their strategic planning processes.
- Partner with department leaders (up to and including SVPs) to support their budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with the budgeting and planning process, including expense tracking and reporting.
- Manage company headcount and hiring decisions.
- Support the creation, optimization, and reporting on processes instrumental to IonQ’s organization.
- Define and monitor key success metrics for strategic initiatives and support business leaders’ pursuit of these milestones.
- Help with the measurability and control of IonQ’s spending.
- Produce timely and accurate financial reports for various stakeholders throughout IonQ.
- Coordinate updates to financial models including revenue forecasting, demand planning, workforce planning, and sales pipeline management to publish robust forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans
- Contribute to continuous improvements in our planning and reporting processes and systems.
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in an analytical or technical field (finance, business administration, data analytics, engineering, etc.)
- 2-4 years of relevant experience working for in banking, for a large public technology company or relevant consulting experience in finance transformation or similar
- Demonstrated project-based work experience to update an existing process or transform a function by streamlining or altering an existing process
- Analytical skills to convert financial models and projections into narratives
- High degree of proficiency understanding, manipulating, and building Excel models
- Knowledge of three-statement modeling and interdependencies
- Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills
You’d be a great fit with:
- Experience working in a financial planning & analysis capacity; familiarity with budgeting and strategic planning processes
- Experience with percentage of completion revenue recognition and forecasting within a public company
- Experience working with leading FP&A technologies such as Anaplan, Pigment, or OneStream
- Familiarity with common BI dashboarding tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
- Familiarity with quantum computing and a demonstrated interest and ability to learn technical concepts
Location: This role is based at our College Park, MD office, with the option to work a few days a week remotely.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $97,123 - $126,652. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, Canada, and Basel, Switzerland.
