We are looking for a Senior Accountant, Revenue. As a Senior Accountant, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will work closely with accounting leaders and technical program managers throughout the global organization to appropriately recognize revenue on contracts with customers. You will assist in other related areas of the accounting close cycle, including accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and cost of revenue. You will also partner with key members of the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, Program Finance, and FP&A teams to support internal and external deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare revenue recognition journal entries in accordance with ASC 606.
- Prepare account reconciliations and key analyses for all revenue related accounts.
- Assist the Revenue Manager with the creation of key technical analyses for new contracts in accordance with ASC 606.
- Manage the operational aspect of invoicing and cash collections.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and legal to understand, account and settle commission liabilities.
- Prepare monthly revenue related financial reports for executive management.
- Coordinate with external auditors on revenue recognition and cost of revenue inquiries.
- Prepare revenue related SEC reporting disclosure templates.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Assist in the system implementation of a systemic revenue recognition subledger.
- Identify and implement areas for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency
You’d be a good fit with:
- 3-5 years of professional experience
- 2-3 years of ASC 606 experience
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and project management skills
- Strong team work and communication skills
- Experience in automation and a desire to improve outdated processes
- Bachelors in Accounting/Finance, CPA is preferred
You’d be a great fit with:
- Revenue related audit experience, particularly with government entities and percentage of completion revenue contracts
- Basic understanding of ASC 606 and its practical application
- Experience with SAAS and technology companies
Location: This is a hybrid role based in our College Park, MD office, requiring in-office presence 1-4 times per month.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $84,455 - $110,132. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, Canada, and Basel, Switzerland.
