Job ID: 1693
The Role:
We are looking for a Director of Product Management - Quantum Cloud to join our Product team at IonQ. In this role, you will be responsible for building a platform that enables anyone in the world to explore the bleeding edge of quantum computing with IonQ hardware. You'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.
You’ll play an important part in helping us continue to move quantum out of the lab and into the world of scientific and commercial utility. This role requires technical acumen, but does not require prior quantum computing experience, you'll have strong technical partners on your team and you'll learn the domain on the job. You will be working on making complex technology accessible for all and have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the trajectory of IonQ and the quantum computing industry at large.
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will own two value streams that define how customers engage with IonQ’s offerings at scale;
- Our global Cloud Experience suite, including the cloud console, acquisition and onboarding paths, self-service pricing and plans. This is the tool that enables everyone from a quantum-curios developer to an enterprise prospect to go from “interested” to “running a job”.
- Our Hybrid Services suite, the IaaS platform and patterns that let customers run integrated quantum-accelerated workloads and subroutines as easily as GPU-accelerated workloads inside their existing cloud, on-prem, or hybrid cloud pipelines.
You will work with customers, external partners, and internal collaborators and more to establish a vision, identify and prioritize requirements, define a product roadmap, inform go-to-market strategies, and drive them to realization and launch.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working internally and externally to build and communicate a strong point of view about our cloud customers (quantum-curious developers, enterprise application researchers, integrator partners, hyperscaler channel buyers) and the ability for IonQ's and competitors' cloud offerings to deliver on their needs.
- Immersing yourself in IonQ's cloud architecture, hybrid execution runtime, partner channel integrations, and the engineering processes behind them in order to deeply understand our technology.
- Building strong relationships with engineering and design to champion user and business needs in clearly-communicated roadmaps, requirements, and priorities. As well as, collaborating with delivery teams to manage tradeoffs and adjust the plan as we learn.
- Owning our pricing and plan structure, the signup-to-first-job funnel, and the orchestration roadmap (HPC, workflow engines, hybrid runtimes).
- Leading cross-functional efforts to define product value proposition, positioning, and go-to-market strategy for the Quantum Cloud and the hybrid runtime, and contribute to its realization. Then driving teams to ship this vision via cloud console, pricing changes, multi-region rollouts, and more.
- Working closely with customer success, growth analytics, customer data, and partner integrators to understand the success, health, and quality of the cloud product in-market, and feed this understanding forward into the next iteration.
Requirements:
To be successful, you will need deep experience in product management (or equivalent) roles, including direct ownership of a high-volume, self-service cloud product such as SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, or developer-tools / API products. We’re looking for a self-starting, high-accountability leader who can contribute effectively in ambiguous and challenging environments, driving impact through persistence and adaptability.
You’d be a great fit with:
- A track record in product led growth motions, such as freemium, tier upgrades, developer onboarding, conversion funnel optimization, pricing experimentation.
- Deep experience with API and developer-experience design and comfort making opinionated tradeoffs between developer ergonomics and platform capabilities.
- World-class written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related engineering field, or equivalent real-world experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be desirable, though not essential, to have experience in the scientific computing or high performance computing industries, or familiarity with quantum computing concepts. It would also be useful to have experience operating multi-region cloud infrastructure, marketplace channel integrations, and/or workload orchestration tools for ML/AI or other accelerated computing contexts. An advanced degree in Computer Science, a related engineering field, and/or an MBA would be desirable.
The approximate base salary range for this position is $200,698 - $262,765. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.
