
Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering and project control support for heavy civil and transportation construction projects. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to implement policies and procedures required for project success. The Project Engineer maintains a good knowledge of the contract specifications, documents and the scope of work, including subcontracts and purchase orders and assists in development of project work plans.
II. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS |
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent years’ experience
- 30-hour OSHA certificate is preferred.
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Work closely with Field Engineers, other Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foreman and Crews on Project Deliverables.
- Directly supervises Field Engineers.
- Review contract documents for assigned scope of work and provide input on the project construction approach and logistics.
- Oversee work in the field and monitor the progress and execution of the plan.
- Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and are in compliance with contract documents.
- Manage and procure subcontractor and material contracts.
- Assist in developing, updating and maintaining the project schedule.
- Coordinate shop drawings and submittals.
- High level of involvement in the cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
- Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.
- Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
- Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION |
- Heavy Civil Construction background with 5+ year’s field experience.
- MTA experience preferable
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Ability to function as a team builder/player.
- The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Must be safety oriented.
Salary Range:
$95,000 - $160,000 USD
