HR Operations and Payroll Administrator

About This Role
As part of the HR team, you’ll help shape and scale the systems, programs, and experiences that support a growing, mission-driven organization at the intersection of technology and energy infrastructure. You’ll serve as a key partner for employees and leaders, executing across HR Operations, Payroll and Reporting. This role reports to the HR Operations Lead, helping us build a high-performing, people-first culture while ensuring HR operations are compliant, scalable, and data-informed.

The HR team partners closely with leaders and employees across the organization, supporting growth, engagement, and performance while ensuring equity, integrity, and collaboration remain at the center of how work gets done. Joining this team offers the opportunity to architect both day-to-day employee experiences and the long-term operational evolution of IPX Power as it scales.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee payroll, taxes, compensation, and benefits administration for employees in the U.S. (currently via PEO) and Canada (currently via EOR)
- Deliver a consistent, competitive, and employee-first experience across the full lifecycle - from seamless onboarding through offboarding
- Partner with leadership to ensure compensation, equity, and benefits programs support talent attraction and retention
- Develop, implement, and maintain scalable HR policies, procedures, and automated workflows
- Administer and track mandatory HR compliance trainings (including sexual harassment prevention and state-required trainings), ensuring timely completion and audit readiness
- Deliver on reporting and analytics needs for the function and business
- Lead the relationship PEOs, payroll providers and other vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery and data integrity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws across states and provinces where employees are based; maintain secure, audit-ready employee records and oversee data privacy practices

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Experience operating as a hands-on HR professional in fast-paced, growing organizations, with exposure to technology, energy, or infrastructure-driven environments
- Proven ability to support payroll, HR operations and reporting requirements. History of managing state payroll taxes and other requirements for company operating compliance
- Leverage expert spreadsheet and reporting skills to deliver a ‘single source of truth’ for people data, transforming metrics into actionable insights for the business
- Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and external partners in a fluid and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Highly organized, proactive, and collaborative work style that balances structure with adaptability
