About This Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented real estate professional to join our Legal and Development teams in a hybrid Specialist / Paralegal, Real Estate Diligence role. This position supports large-scale renewable energy projects by managing real estate diligence, coordinating transaction processes, and assisting attorneys with documentation and closings.
This role works cross-functionally with Real Estate Legal, Land Acquisition, Development, Project Finance, Construction, and Environmental teams to ensure land transactions move efficiently from diligence through closing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and experienced in commercial real estate transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate Diligence & Transaction Support
- Manage real estate diligence for energy and infrastructure projects, including tracking title, survey, and curative deliverables.
- Coordinate directly with title companies, surveyors, external counsel, and internal stakeholders to keep transactions on schedule.
- Conduct preliminary review of title commitments, proformas, title policies, and surveys; prepare summaries and issue lists for attorney and land team review.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating key title and contractual risks.
- Analyze and communicate diligence findings to legal, development, and finance teams.
Legal & Documentation Support
- Assist attorneys with document management, preparation of closing binders, signature tracking, and process management for purchase agreements, ground leases, easements, financings, and other real estate transactions.
- Prepare and review day-to-day real estate documents such as title affidavits, estoppels, letters of intent, and closing documents under attorney supervision.
- Support transaction closings, including coordination with title companies and handling of executed originals.
- Maintain adherence to contract templates and documentation standards.
- Conduct legal research as requested.
Process & Systems Management
- Maintain and optimize tracking tools, spreadsheets, and databases to ensure clear visibility into project status.
- Implement process improvements for real estate transactions, including leveraging technology to increase efficiency.
- Assist corporate and project finance paralegals with general legal process management and document tracking as needed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of real estate experience, preferably in title insurance, commercial real estate law, or transactional real estate support.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong knowledge of commercial title reports, endorsements, surveys, and real estate closing processes.
- Familiarity with landowner agreements such as leases, purchase agreements, easements, and related documentation.
- Experience coordinating with title companies and closing agents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google Sheets, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, mortgage lending, oil and gas, or real estate finance transactions preferred.
- Strong proofreading, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and follow tasks through to completion under tight timelines.
Total Rewards
Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus)
