Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting

The Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting will report to the Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting and will play a key role within Ironwood’s corporate accounting team. The Manager will lead technical accounting matters and external reporting activities, including the preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q, while partnering closely with FP&A, Corporate Development, and cross-functional leaders on complex transactions and strategic initiatives. The role will also support SOX compliance and governance and help ensure the accounting implications of key business decisions are appropriately evaluated and communicated.


Essential Functions:
•    Ensure the Company’s financial statements and SEC filings are accurate, high quality, compliant with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements, and useful to management and investors; 
•    Manage the quarterly and annual SEC reporting process, including preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K, drafting and reviewing disclosures, coordinating management, legal counsel, and external auditor reviews, and overseeing EDGAR and XBRL requirements; 
•    Manage the annual statutory reporting for applicable legal entities, including preparation of statutory financial statements and coordination with external auditors;
•    Assist with lender reporting requirements, including financial reporting and compliance certificates under the Company’s debt arrangements;
•    Assist with the implementation of technical accounting pronouncements and assessment of complex accounting matters such as revenue recognition, collaboration accounting, stock-based compensation, tax-related considerations, in/out-licensing and M&A transactions;
•    Partner with Investor Relations on quarterly earnings materials, including the earnings release, earnings call script, presentation materials, and supporting financial analyses;
•    Manage the Company’s SOX compliance programs in partnership with outsourced internal audit firm, including annual updates to flowcharts, narratives and control matrixes as well as review test plan and results;
•    Identify and drive process and control improvements, with a focus on sustainable, scalable solutions and increased automation of controls and processes;
•    Coordinate with external auditors in connection with quarterly reviews, the annual audit, and technical accounting matters;
•    Partner with Legal on the preparation of the proxy statement and other periodic SEC filings; 
•    Support accounting systems and process improvements, as well as other strategic and ad hoc projects.

Qualifications:
•    5+ years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility, including public accounting or equivalent experience; Big Four public accounting experience preferred 
•    CPA certification 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
•    Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment 
•    Experience with SAP, Merrill Bridge, and AuditBoard preferred 
•    Experience in the commercial pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred

Ironwood currently anticipates that the initial base salary for this position could range from between $136,000-$162,000.  The actual base salary will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience.  Ironwood offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits program to eligible employees, including Restricted Stock Unit awards; eligibility to participate in either a bonus or sales incentive program; company-sponsored 401(k) with matching contributions; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; wellness stipends; and a generous vacation/holiday schedule.
