Lab Manager
About the Role
The Lab Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of our nanofabrication and optics research labs. This role includes managing equipment, materials, safety protocols, and lab personnel to ensure that experiments, prototyping, and production runs are executed effectively and safely. The Lab Manager will work closely with engineers, scientists, and technicians to support ongoing projects and R&D initiatives while maintaining a clean, organized, and productive lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lab Operations Management: Oversee daily lab operations, ensuring that equipment, materials, and workspaces are available, functional, and well-organized to support research, development, and production activities.
- Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Work with the engineering team to manage routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment, including optical, fabrication, and measurement tools, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Track and manage lab inventory, including chemicals, materials, and supplies, coordinating with the engineering team to ensure timely replenishment and compliance with budgetary constraints.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, hazardous materials handling, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Coordinate with external consultants for regular safety audits and training sessions for lab personnel.
- Lab Process Optimization: Continuously improve lab processes, workflows, and protocols to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support the smooth execution of R&D and production activities.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, engineers, and other team members to support project needs.
- Demonstrated experience working in a wet-lab environment.
- A track record of creating more efficient and detailed processes and tools for a technical or engineering team to use.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $80,000-$110,000 and we are committed to equitable compensation across our company. We handle our benefits through an annual reimbursement to give our employees greater flexibility with the plans that meet their needs. We offer a Flexible Paid Time Off policy and encourage people to take regular vacation.
