Job Summary
As an Underwriter II for Integrated Specialty Coverages, your primary responsibility will involve reviewing applications for insurance and evaluating the degree of risk against a set of guidelines to determine eligibility for coverage in our programs. In addition, you will be responsible for determining the level of coverage to be offered and appropriate pricing based on the exposures presented and individual risk characteristics, while managing communication with appointed brokers. You are responsible for becoming familiar with various commercial insurance applications, industry terminology specific to commercial insurance, construction contract and certificate review, reviewing and quoting insurance applications and contacting appointed brokers, identifying their needs and building client relationships.
Position Responsibilities
- Become familiar with program underwriting guidelines, various commercial insurance applications and industry technology.
- Gather, analyze and compare information on new and renewal business against a set of rules and guidelines for acceptability
- Assess degree of the individual risk to determine level of coverage that will be offered and appropriate pricing relative to the risk
- Documentation of Underwriting files including risk analysis and pricing justification in accordance with established underwriting standards
- Provide exceptional service to our brokers – timely, quality, professional customer service
- Interface with brokers to ensure a mutually beneficial, growing, profitable relationship
- Collaborate with other team members as needed in underwriting, claims, or marketing to resolve issues
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree strongly preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in insurance commercial lines underwriting
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Preferred Qualifications
- Underwriting experience for hospitality insurance product lines
The starting annual pay scale for this position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, training, and experience. In addition, the company offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with match, paid time off, and other benefits.
ISC's salary ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
National Pay Range
$61,611 - $77,013 USD
