What you’ll do 

The Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and leads full-time and contractor team members across the globe.

In this role, you’ll drive improvements in product quality, platform scalability, accessibility, and secure engineering practices across mission-critical systems that power bookings, supplier integrations, and transaction flows. You’ll partner with cross-functional leadership, architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to scale both the people and the platform.

Your Impact

  • Hire, lead, coach, mentor, manage, train, and coordinate the skills and efforts of software development team members, and be a culture and core values carrier for your team.
  • Lead and own the design, development, and maintenance of product features, APIs, frameworks, and platform components. 
  • Be a champion of accessibility, ensuring inclusive design and development practices are embedded across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with product, project managers, customers, architects, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Manage and support various non-production environments to ensure proper configuration and availability, and be a champion of quality.
  • Promote collaboration, automation, continuous integration and delivery, continuous monitoring, and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Build a performance- and accountability-driven team culture while defining engineering KPIs, team vision, goals, and strategy.
  • Use data, business cases, and industry knowledge to communicate with your team, peers, and leadership, and infuse relevant thought leadership into all planning discussions.
  • Actively participate and contribute to all employee engagement and performance management initiatives, both org-wide and team-specific.
  • Develop flexible, scalable resource management plans to enable the achievement of new business and expansion revenue targets.
  • Deliver a scalable strategy to meet SLAs related to warranty cost, uptime, incidents, and bugs including managing and supporting incident outages, escalations.
  • Review existing processes and recommend changes or institute new processes as necessary, including the areas of monitoring, upgrades, tuning, etc.

What you bring to the table 

  • 3+ years of experience leading, managing, and mentoring high-performing software development teams (UI & Backend) distributed across time zones
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (or equivalent professional experience), with 5+ years of experience building SaaS-based software products and platforms
  • 5+ years of previous experience with back-end technologies (Rust, Elixir, Java, SpringBoot) and front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript), comfort working with cloud-native architecture (AWS, Docker, SQS, RDS, Redis, CI/CD pipelines)
  • 3+ years of experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and directly interacting with customers
  • 3+ years of experience working on customer-facing products, requiring end customer/client collaboration and communication

Bonus points 

  • Experience building travel-based products and platforms like air, car, and hotel booking tools, engines, and suppliers
  • Experience with AWS ecosystems like CodeBuild, CloudWatch, ECS, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Experience building commercial-grade APIs

 

Pay Range for this Position:

$142,000 - $178,000 USD

Location

This is a remote-first role, available to candidates residing in any of the 25+ U.S. states where iSeatz is established for payroll tax purposes. While iSeatz is headquartered in New Orleans, LA, with business hours aligned to the Central Time Zone, you have the flexibility to work from your home office or any remote workspace, whether that's your favorite local coffee shop or a shared co-working space.
