What you’ll do 

The Senior Design Engineer reports to the Design Architect and collaborates with other agile, cross-functional teams to craft consistent and successful end-user experiences.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and technical implementation by driving holistic front-end development across products, ensuring design intent is consistently and systematically realized.

Your Impact 

Application of Expertise

  • Drive the implementation of holistic development across products, ensuring development aligns with designs.
  • Influence and collaborate broadly across product, business, and design teams to promote consistency and scalability. 
  • Partner closely with Design Architect, Product Designers, Front-end Architect, Developers, and Product Owners to build and maintain consistent and systemic components.

Collaboration with Internal and External Teams

  • Collaborate with product managers to review stories and functional requirements for new features and initiatives
  • Work in an agile environment partnering with product teams, frontend architects, and developers to implement systemic front-end components and adopt them into the broader company ecosystem.
  • Works closely with the Design Architect to ensure the design solutions are implemented systematically.

What you bring to the table

  • Experience: At least five years of relevant professional experience contributing to a design system that powers a multi-tenant white-label product or website
  • Front-End Development: Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as React (preferred), Vue, or Angular; skilled in cross-browser compatibility, performance optimization, and semantic coding best practices.
  • Accessibility Expertise: Deep understanding of WCAG and WAI-ARIA guidelines; experienced in accessible component design, screen reader and keyboard testing, and integrating accessibility into scalable systems.
  • Design System & Tooling: Experienced with Figma (including plugin and API development), Style Dictionary, Storybook, and Chromatic for managing, documenting, and testing design tokens and components.
  • Collaboration & Workflow: Skilled in Git/GitHub, Jira, and Agile methodologies; comfortable working iteratively with cross-functional, distributed teams; excels in improving dev processes to conform to best practices and code standards
  • Technical Communication & Continuous Learning: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and quickly adopt new technologies and tools; portfolio demonstrates system thinking, scalability, and accessibility in code.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel approximately once per quarter to engage with teams in a co-located environment.

Location

This role is remote-first and can be located anywhere in the continental United States - feel free to work from your home office, from the beach, or from the cottage you rented for the summer! iSeatz is a New Orleans-based company with Central Time Zone business hours. While we support flexible schedules, some roles—particularly those with direct client collaboration—may require alignment with client time zones for key meetings and real-time communication.

Pay Range for this Position:

$109,300 - $134,500 USD
