iSpot is seeking a highly skilled, experienced attorney to lead its fast-growing Legal Department. As the VP, Legal, you will be a key member of our executive team, shaping and overseeing the legal and compliance framework for our fast-growing SaaS company. You’ll work in close partnership with internal teams, including P&E, GTM, Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Facilities and external partners, to ensure that iSpot’s legal strategies align with business objectives while navigating complex legal landscapes. This role has primary oversight of all legal matters related to commercial transactions, contracts, regulatory compliance, and other legal issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all commercial legal affairs for the company, providing strategic counsel to the executive team and the board.
  • Oversee corporate governance, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external legal counsel, ensuring effective management of outside resources.
  • Guide the organization through legal risk assessments, regulatory issues, and contract negotiations.
  • Drive legal initiatives that enable iSpot.tv to expand into new markets while mitigating potential risks.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review key contracts and including agreements (e.g., data license agreements, leasing agreements, financing documents, and partnership agreements).
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (CCPA) and intellectual property protections.
  • Manage legal aspects of fundraising, M&A activities, and potential public filings (if applicable).
  • Implement and enhance legal processes to scale with business growth, maintaining the highest ethical standards.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing.
  • 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in-house (preferably at a high-growth SaaS or technology company).
  • Expertise in contract law, corporate governance, data privacy, and compliance within the SaaS industry.
  • Experience with public company readiness, including SEC reporting, IPO preparation, and related governance.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters and lead high-performing legal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of advising senior leaders and boards.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working within the advertising, marketing, or media technology industries.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law and licensing in the context of digital media.
  • Familiarity with emerging legal issues surrounding SaaS products, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, and AI.
  • Experience with corporate transactions such as M&A, venture financing, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a focus on mentoring and developing talent within the legal department.
  • Ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment with agility and strategic foresight.
  • Experience working with private equity-backed companies or in high-growth environments.
