Data Engineer - Remote (6007)

itD is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making across complex technical environments. This role plays a critical part in enabling reliable data flow, improving data quality, and supporting advanced analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in data engineering, cloud-based data platforms, and pipeline development, along with a proven track record of delivering robust, production-ready data solutions.

Location: Remote within the United States. Preference for candidates located in the Central or Mountain time zones due to collaboration with teams operating across Pacific and Eastern time zones.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex ETL/ELT pipelines that support analytics and operational reporting.

  • Own and manage data tables, schemas, and transformations within cloud-based data platforms.

  • Build and enhance data pipelines that ingest structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from multiple sources.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate requirements into scalable solutions.

  • Ensure data reliability, quality, and performance through monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Document data models, pipelines, and processes to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering standards, tooling, and best practices.

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings.

  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.

  • Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material).

  • Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.

  • Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).

  • Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, Python, Git, and cloud-based data lakes (e.g., Snowflake or equivalent).

  • 5+ years of experience with Linux, shell scripting, and AWS cloud architecture.

  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex data pipelines.

  • 3+ years of experience working with semi-structured and unstructured data.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with AI engineering and DevOps tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD, Terraform, or OpenTofu.

  • Experience with dbt and Fivetran.

  • Proven experience with Apache Kafka and data streaming into a data warehouse environment.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required.
