High-Speed Digital Hardware Engineer (6008)

itD is seeking a High-Speed Digital Hardware Engineer to drive the design, bring-up, and production release of advanced high-speed digital hardware platforms. This role is responsible for delivering robust, production-ready board designs that enable next-generation networking and compute solutions, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the full hardware lifecycle. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with high-speed interfaces, board-level design, and lab-based debugging in complex environments.

Location: Hybrid - San Jose, CA  (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Pay Range: $74 - 83.87 (hourly)

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end development of high-speed digital boards from architecture and schematic design through validation and production.

  • Design and debug systems supporting 25G+ SerDes and 10–25G+ optical interfaces.

  • Integrate and validate designs using leading-edge microprocessor-based reference platforms.

  • Design, bring up, and debug high-speed components including FPGA, PHY, retimers, PCIe switches, and POLs.

  • Perform hands-on lab validation and failure analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and VNA.

  • Execute hardware bring-up using minimal BSP-level commands and low-level diagnostic interfaces.

  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot board-level components using low-level command-line diagnostics.

  • Develop and execute basic automation or validation scripts using Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages.

  • Collaborate effectively with hardware, firmware, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure design readiness.

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings.

  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.

  • Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material).

  • Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.

  • Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).

  • Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience developing multiple high-speed digital boards from concept through production.

  • Strong expertise with 25G+ SerDes architectures and high-speed signal integrity considerations.

  • Hands-on experience with 10–25G+ optical modules (design or debug).

  • Proven background designing and debugging FPGA, PHY, retimers, PCIe switches, and POL power solutions.

  • Advanced hands-on lab skills with scopes, analyzers, and VNA.

  • Experience performing board bring-up using minimal BSP and low-level diagnostics.

  • Working knowledge of Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages for basic automation and testing.

  • Solid understanding of networking hardware concepts and terminology.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in fast-paced engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience supporting manufacturing bring-up or production ramp.

  • Exposure to large-scale networking or data center hardware environments.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
