Director, Talent Management & Development
Reporting to: Vice President, Human Resources
About This Role
The Director, Talent Management and Development is responsible for building the talent and organizational capabilities needed to advance the company's mission. This role leads, evolves and operationalizes talent acquisition, employee development, performance and talent management, and succession planning, ensuring the organization attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent. Working cross-functionally, the Director partners with leaders to cultivate high-performing teams, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and create a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the company's end-to-end talent acquisition execution across all functions.
- Partner with leaders to understand workforce needs and develop hiring strategies aligned with business goals.
- Drive efficient, high-quality recruiting processes that deliver an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience.
- Partner to develop and execute onboarding programs that accelerate integration, engagement, and productivity of new team members.
- Build, facilitate, and measure learning and development programs that support employee growth and organizational capability.
- Design, facilitate, and measure leadership and manager development initiatives to strengthen leadership effectiveness at all levels.
- Own the enhancement, and expansion of the applicant tracking system (ATS), establishing scalable recruiting workflows, reporting, and analytics that support organizational growth and enable data-driven talent decisions.
- Partner with managers to create meaningful development plans and career growth opportunities for employees.
- Partner to lead talent management programs and planning.
- Drive and enhance a performance management approach that promotes accountability, continuous feedback, growth, and results.
- Assess organizational and leadership capability needs and implement targeted development solutions to support business priorities.
- Utilize talent metrics and insights to inform decision-making and continuously improve talent programs.
- Stay informed on talent market trends and emerging practices to continuously enhance organizational capability.
- Contribute to broader Human Resources initiatives and assume additional HR responsibilities as needed in support of evolving business priorities.
Who You Are and Required Skills:
- 10+ years of progressive experience and understanding in talent acquisition, talent management, learning and development, and human resources.
- Experience in growth-stage companies, including scaling teams, processes, and capabilities, is strongly preferred. Biotechnology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.
- Experience implementing, managing, and optimizing applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Experience leveraging talent analytics and data to drive strategic workforce and talent decisions.
- Strong coaching, influencing, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and effectively support team members.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Energized by growth and change, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience working in a small to mid-sized organization where flexibility and a willingness to contribute broadly are essential.
- Passion for developing people, strengthening teams, and helping organizations scale effectively.
Additional Information:
The base compensation range for this role is $215,000 - $230,000. Compensation is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
