About the Position
The Asset Maintenance Specialist provides support to the Asset Division by procuring, negotiating, and managing all repair and maintenance work for trailers in the ITS network. This involves building and maintaining partnerships with vendors completing work on ITS’ behalf and tracking the progress of repairs and maintenance for ITS trailers. This role reports directly to the VP of Maintenance and focuses on improving operational and procedural efficiencies through data analysis and collaboration. The position will work closely with the Legal, Finance, Information Technology, Safety & Compliance, and all brokerage teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Procure quality repair and maintenance vendors across the country in the most effective and cost-efficient manner.
- Build partnerships with repair and maintenance vendors to maximize cost savings and ensure efficient repairs of trailers.
- Manage repair and maintenance vendors to ensure repairs are completed timely, accurately, and within the scope of the requested work.
- Negotiate repair and maintenance work to reduce overall costs to ITS.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose trailer breakdowns to clearly and concisely request appropriate repairs and maintenance.
- Coordinate service and repair operations, ensuring smooth communication between all involved parties to ensure timely service.
- Daily maintenance and management of trailer data utilizing various technologies with a hyper focus on data integrity.
- Accurately record and update asset acquisitions, statuses, and locations.
- Track and report compliance with registration and insurance to meet ITS requirements.
- Optimize organizational practices via automation and efficiency, always striving toward continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
About the Requirements
We’re looking for a creative problem solver who enjoys negotiating and building relationships. The ideal candidate will be accustomed to working in a very fast-paced environment and must be adaptable. In addition to the skills listed below, candidates should have repair and maintenance experience, along with a background in troubleshooting and service coordination. Additional requirements include:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in transportation required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or an applicable field preferred.
- Knowledge of freight trailers, trailer parts, and mechanical operations.
- Experience with repair and maintenance work and understanding of troubleshooting processes.
- Service coordination experience with a focus on facilitating smooth repair and maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of asset technology and data analytics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer service experience and a service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
