About the Position

ITS has an immediate opening for a VP of Business Development. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and new business development. We are seeking an individual who can lead our sales process from prospecting to closing. To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record of success in sales within the distribution and fulfilment vertical, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to think strategically. You should also possess a thorough understanding of the sales process and be comfortable working independently with minimal direction.  This position reports to the President of Distribution and Fulfillment. We’re looking for a solid player with succession capabilities beyond this role; one with the capacity to engage teams and build followership.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develop new sales accounts that exceed $12.0M revenue per year with an emphasis on omni-channel fulfillment services. This includes generating prospecting lists, leveraging existing client relationships, and identifying target lists.
  • Lead business development efforts to identify, evaluate, and execute multi-year contractual relationships with customers
  • Execute a consultative sales approach to create innovative solutions for new and existing customers
  • Sales/Lead Generation – deliver on specific opportunities with a minimum monthly revenue of $25K in fulfillment spend.
  • Drive high levels of engagement at trade shows to foster growth and strengthen relationships with ITS Logistics customers and prospects
  • Network with past/present connections/leads to effectively create a network that fosters inbound lead generation
  • Deliver a legitimate pipeline 5X the annual revenue goal
  • Generate an additional $3M annually for ITS through Cross Sale for new or existing customer(s) (e.g. Truckload, LTL, Dray, Managed Solutions)
  • Utilize CRM to organize, document, and track business development activities throughout the sales lifecycle
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to develop/enhance marketing materials, proposal templates, and prospecting tools to support business development and marketing efforts
  • Prepare formal responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Request for Proposals (RFPs)

About the Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment in warehousing, logistics, and business development.

Additional requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business or a related degree preferred, but not required
  • 10+ years of experience within business development for logistics services, specifically distribution and fulfillment
  • Excellent leadership and strong interpersonal skills. A proven coach and motivator, with a strong customer service orientation for both the internal and external customer.
  • Experience in negotiating multi-million-dollar agreements and contracts
  • A make-it-happen person, who is flexible, adaptable and possesses a high sense of urgency
  • Gets the job done right and on time, despite obstacles
  • Excellent analytical, problems solving, and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
