Position Summary

ITS has an immediate opening for a Safety Coordinator at our warehouse in Whitestown, IN.  This position is responsible for the coordination of all safety related activities our third-party warehouse operation.  The incumbent will ensure compliance with all State and Federal safety laws and ordinances, building security and the facilitation of the site safety committee.

Principle Administrative Accountabilities

  • Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding for regular employees.
  • Coordinate accident and near miss investigations to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of safety related stations (eye wash, fire extinguisher, emergency lights, first aid cabinets, safety data sheets, etc.).
  • Conduct daily walks through the warehouse to inspect / audit processes and procedures
  • Leadership role in the Safety Committee and Emergency Response teams.
  • Responsible for the coordination of internal and external audits of food grade products in conjunction with the American Institute of Baking (AIB). Responsible for keeping Policy Binder up to date and current with FDA regulations
  • Conduct internal safety audits with regulatory agencies (e.g., IWLA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Perform various administrative functions (e.g., for warehouse operations, contractor / vendor safety compliance, etc.).
  • Contact for regulatory agencies such as the fire and health departments, FDA, etc.

Principle Training Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of all safety related training for all new employees during the onboarding process.
  • Manage safety related training activities, including but not limited to, safety job analyses, ergonomics, remedial task training, ABI Training, etc.
  • Coordinate training on warehouse leadership team on accident and safety investigations and root cause analysis
  • Develop a series of modified duty functions and train employees recovering from work-related injuries on how to perform those tasks.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment in administration of safety programs in an industrial environment.

Additional requirements include:

  • Five plus years’ experience as a safety coordinator.
  • Experience with Behavior Based Safety Programs.
  • Experience in ergonomics and investigation is strongly desired.
  • Experience with material handling experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills who can develop a team atmosphere.
  • PC literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong understanding of rules surrounding confidentiality.
  • First Aid Certified or willingness to be certified within first 90 days of employment
