The Position

This position (Located in Haslet, TX) reports to the Terminal Manager and is responsible for managing driver performance and turnover along with other areas of the driver’s experience including recruiting, safety, and compliance.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage hours of service and effectively execute freight/loads to ensure acceptable ITS service standards are met.
  • Effectively manage points and document behaviors.
  • Coach and develop drivers to have high and positive communication and safe driving habits.
  • Coach and develop drivers to effectively utilize ITS technology including ELD’s and driver apps.
  • Ensure drivers have acceptable pre and post trips and treat ITS equipment with respect.
  • Build great relationships such that ITS drivers feel that they are an integral part of the organization.
  • Participate in the effective recruiting and onboarding of drivers.
  • Knowledge and capable of administering fleet safety responsibilities.
  • Responsible for ADP and Time and Attendance functions.

Additional Duties:

  • Recruiting
    • Ensure staffing needs are met according to business needs.
    • Work with business to identify current and future driver headcount.
    • Manage the pipeline and workflow of driver candidates.
    • Responsible for all duties prior to start date.
  • Compliance
    • Responsible for driver file compliance and annual audits.
    • Manage Lytx camera events.
    • Manage hours of service, DOT regulations, and roadside inspections.
    • Oversee random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Safety
    • Responsible for driver pre-employment drug testing.
    • Facilitate driver RTS onboarding and Smith System instruction.
    • Lead first responder to facilitate critical events.
    • Post incident violation training (ensure the team is trained to facilitate as well).
    • Oversees simulator training.
    • Facilitate noncritical accidents and employee injury events.
    • Direct pre-employment road testing.
    • Serves as the decision maker for safety related corrective actions. Creates and approves all corrective action steps.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment in transportation industry and be accustomed to working in a fast paced, high volume environment.

Additional requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field preferred.
  • Five (5+) years’ experience in the transportation industry. Exposure to planning, dispatch, driver management highly desired.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with vendors and carriers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High level “grit” with the fortitude to remain objective in all situations and manage issued to a successful conclusion.
  • Excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills
