About the Position
The Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the Damage and Toll department, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of damages and tolls. This role leads staff, develops procedures, manages complex claims, and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to minimize risk, control costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Damage and Tolls department
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate claims staff
- Review, investigate, and resolve complex Damages and Tolls
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards
- Develop and implement Damages and Tolls procedures, workflows, and best practices
- Monitor Damages and Tolls trends, identify risk areas, and recommend corrective actions
- Handle escalated complaints and disputes
- Prepare reports on claims performance, costs, reserves, and outcomes
- Ensure accurate documentation and data integrity in Damages and Tolls determinations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of claims experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of claims handling practices, insurance policies, and applicable regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM
- Experience with large-loss, litigation, or specialty claims
