Principle accountabilities

We are seeking a Director of AI Transformation with an entrepreneurial mindset - someone who has operated in startup environments, thrives in change, and is driven to disrupt and redefine how logistics operates at its core!

This is not a traditional AI or automation role. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this leader will identify, build, and scale our AI-powered strategies and capabilities that will supercharge how we operate. You will act as an internal founder - challenging assumptions, moving quickly, and creating solutions across every aspect of our business, from business services to warehousing to transportation.

AI-Led Business Innovation

  • Identify and build new AI-driven capabilities that unlock revenue, margin expansion, and market differentiation.
  • Develop proprietary approaches to pricing, capacity, and decision-making that separate ITS from traditional asset-lite companies.
  • Partner directly with leadership to shape the future state of the business - not just optimize the current one.
  • Build internal models, platforms, and systems that drive efficiency and exponential growth.

Product & Platform Development

  • Operate like a startup founder within the business - taking ideas from concept to deployed solutions quickly.
  • Maintain a close partnership with our IT organization, maximizing all products and development across our organization.
  • Rapidly test, iterate, and refine ideas based on business impact - not perfection.

Disruption of Core Industry Workflows

  • Challenge deeply embedded ways of working across logistics and operations, and warehousing.
  • Replace legacy thinking - not just legacy tools - with AI-native approaches to execution and decision-making.
  • Introduce new ways of interacting with data, customers, and capacity.
  • Drive a culture of rapid experimentation and high-velocity execution, delivering visible wins quickly while building toward larger, transformative outcomes.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on measurable business impact (revenue, margin, speed, win rate, etc.).

AI Strategy & Market Positioning

  • Ensure ITS leverages cutting-edge, market-leading AI tools in a rapidly evolving landscape.
  • Partner cross-functionally to define and execute the company’s AI transformation roadmap.
  • Establish best practices for responsible and effective AI usage across teams.
  • In conjunction with ITS in-house CIO, ensure enterprise AI tools and data are leveraged securely.
  • Help position ITS as a technology-forward disruptor in logistics, not a follower.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in AI, data systems, automation, or technical/product-oriented roles.
  • Startup or entrepreneurial experience - you’ve built something from scratch, operated in change, or owned outcomes end-to-end.
  • A builder first, not just a strategist- you execute, iterate, and ship.
  • Think in terms of products, systems, and leverage - not tasks or workflows.
  • Comfortable challenging leadership and rethinking how an industry should operate.
  • Experience applying AI (LLMs, automation, data systems) to drive real business outcomes - not just experimentation.
  • You move fast, prioritize impact, and are energized by creating something new vs. optimizing what exists.
  • Background in logistics is helpful, but outsider thinking is highly valued.
  • Willing to relocate to Reno, NV; hybrid option available for SF Bay Area candidates with ~60% time in Reno.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
