Senior Account Director - Healthcare

What you’ll be doing

Assume responsibility for cultivating significant, new and sustained repeat business on behalf of the company.  Lead, service and manage all aspects of client accounts and projects and drive excellence in how Jack Morton delivers experiential marketing solutions for leading healthcare brands.  Manage and develop all team members.  Take all appropriate and necessary action to ensure clients and prospective clients regard the company in high esteem and rely upon us as their resource for present and future marketing communications solutions.

  • Strategy:

    Develop strategic annual plan with client(s) in order to exceed brand objectives by aligning client business objectives with Jack Morton’s entire strategic marketing communication platform. Conduct periodic client and project reviews to ensure that all client objectives are being met, that existing relationships remain solid and look to meet new contacts with high client potential. Build excellent rapport and spend personal time with clients in the office and field.

    Research client(s) and gain thorough understanding of their business objectives and brand priorities with the purpose of providing innovative strategic direction and input to manage clients marketing programs and to explore creative ways to influence the behaviors of the clients desired target audiences in order to exceed their business objectives.

    Use knowledge and in-depth experience of company’s overall marketing communications solutions (including an understanding of driving the entire client engagement process from strategy to creative to design to execution), to provide consultative strategic and tactical solutions that support client in exceeding its brands objectives.

     

  • Sales / Account Management:

    Recognize and develop business opportunities with new and existing clients. Build and maintain relationships throughout the client organization and at all management levels, and proactively develop ideas for how to take on and solve client business challenges.

    Generates over $500,000 of client portfolio growth annually and manages core revenue of $5,000,000 or greater.

    Ability to sell and communicate company’s entire suite of experiential marketing solutions – development and execution of strategy, design, production, deployment and management for events and exhibitions including related promotional, technology and digital products and services.

    Lead all aspects of capabilities presentations, sales presentations, pitches and proposal generation for existing client base and prospects, including bespoke solutions for leading healthcare companies.

    Clearly represent their client’s needs, while guiding internal teams with their knowledge and insights of the client and the client’s business throughout the project life cycle, from concept development through delivery and final billing.  Provide oversight to the Account Team that acts as liaison between client and all company departments.

    Provide oversight and support to all account related needs including but not limited to:

    Property and graphic inventories

    Job process issues

    Show site expectations

    Quality / Expectation

    Pricing / billing

    Ensure the team maintains project Work Order, Creative Briefs and Call Reports and communicates this information to all departments in an effective manner.

    Represents Jack Morton at industry or skill specific meetings or conferences.

    Travels approximately 30% of the time inclusive of client appointments, engagement of new client contacts and project delivery.

     

    Financial Responsibility / Management:

     

    Responsible for forecasting revenue opportunities along with presenting account resource planning and state of client on a periodic basis internally to Jack Morton’s executive team.

    Must maintain and update all forecasting and budgeting information in the Work Order on a routine basis.

    Travel for onsite-management of client and services.  Demonstrate project and meeting fiscal responsibility in booking travel and ensure team members’ travel follows Company guidelines.

    Responsible for meeting client account and team target margins.

    Assure all costs/ items are accounted for in client quotes and invoices.

    Review all account reconciliations with team.

    Follow-up directly with client, as required, to resolve unpaid invoices (Collection and Agings) in a timely fashion.

    Leadership:

     

    Management of the client service team including, interviewing, hiring, mentoring and training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and conducting annual performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Empowers team members and effectively delegates responsibilities while monitoring client relationships and satisfaction of projects being handled by team members.

    Train and develop individual skill sets, expanding client service, sales, business, and marketing expertise.

    Resolve problems / conflicts within team.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Desired Characteristics:

    Previous P&L responsibilities / oversight on client accounts.

    Expertise in healthcare marketing with a specific emphasis on medical conferences and other healthcare industry events.

    Experience in experiential marketing or a creative solutions-based agency with a specific emphasis in tradeshows preferred.

    Must be passionate about working with people and be customer-centric.

    Must be a strategic thinker - maintains big picture view.

    Thrives in an entrepreneurial and independent environment.

    Is impervious to limits or roadblocks.

    Highly effective communication skills are required: including the ability to make effective and persuasive presentations; prepare written documentation including proposals, quotations and letters; maintain accurate and complete client and project files.

    Must be able to develop excellent rapport with existing and prospective clients.

    Must have a good “business sense”.

    Exhibit the ability to multi-task, sell, and operate under severe time constraints and immovable deadlines. Good organization, detail and follow-up skills are required.

    Proficient using Microsoft office programs and demonstrated experience in leveraging AI solutions to support business performance.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; and 8+ years related experience working with global clients and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, proposals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises 2-5 employees in the Client Services Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
