Facilities Specialist - Workplace Operations and Food Service Equipment

New York, New York, United States

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Specialist to lead our workplace services operations and food service equipment programs from ideas to execution. You will manage our workplace operations, including but not limited to: janitorial, facility maintenance, pest control, and the full lifecycle of commercial kitchen and pantry equipment across our cafes and food service areas, ensuring optimal performance and uninterrupted operations.

Our office environment has diverse operational and design needs. You’ll liaise with the parties involved in designing, building, and managing our amenity spaces, including: the food service operators, consultants, architects, engineers, project managers, facilities managers, equipment suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure those needs are met with the right solutions.

When new spaces are built, you’ll be involved in the construction process—from demolition through punch list and operation—and manage our ongoing maintenance program and vendor partners to maintain operational excellence and sanitation standards.

Specific responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Managing our equipment and spare parts inventory, as well as vendor contracts for cleaning, pest control, painting, and food service equipment maintenance (including preventative maintenance)
  • Providing data and insight to help make decisions related to the design and construction of our food spaces
  • Evaluating requests for new equipment purchases, reviewing equipment cost estimates and budgets, and making recommendations that may result in cost savings or increased efficiencies
  • Developing strategies for equipment maintenance and data management
  • Being the single point of contact for our equipment service providers
  • Tracking all equipment issues and working with the team to resolve them
  • Coordinating equipment deliveries, inspection, installations, and commissioning with the appropriate teams across Jane Street
  • Working with the Food Service and Facilities Engineering teams to ensure our physical spaces meet safety and sanitation requirements

About You

  • Preferably have 8+ years of experience working in the facilities industry (with knowledge of commercial kitchen and pantry equipment) and 3+ years of experience managing people
  • Have a practical understanding of structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems specific to food service environments
  • Comfortable reading construction documents and equipment specifications
  • Able to “speak the language” of architects, food service consultants, and tradespeople
  • Have expertise managing third-party vendors and service partners
  • Have a strong professional network in the facilities and hospitality industry
  • A courteous, reliable, and flexible team player who can work occasional early morning and evening hours
  • A critical thinker with the ability to speak comfortably in a large group
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Take a results-oriented, hands-on approach to your work
