Tax Specialist

London, England, United Kingdom

About the Position

We are looking for a Tax Specialist to join our London Tax team to primarily help with managing Corporate Income Tax (CIT) compliance and reporting, and related advisory projects for our UK, Dutch and other EMEA entities. This position will focus on CIT for these entities to start with, but will likely expand into other taxes and jurisdictions over time.

You’ll work alongside team members and our external providers to manage the end-to-end compliance and reporting processes, including financial statement disclosures and finalisation of tax returns.

Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Providing support to the firm in answering CIT-related questions
  • Ongoing reviewing of tax changes to help identify potential impacts to the firm
  • Working closely with our global Tax team to provide comprehensive and coordinated tax advice to the firm
  • Updating documentation and internal records as tax law and departmental processes evolve
  • Conducting transfer pricing (TP) study report reviews, master file notification filings and submissions
  • Assisting in the UK Senior Accounting Officer Regime compliance processes, including maintaining control documentation and recommending ways to improve and automate processes
  • Completing CBCR/FATCA/CRS and other tax compliance filings

About You

  • Have professional accountancy (e.g., ACA, ACCA) and/or taxation (e.g., ATT, CTA) qualifications with 4+ years of post-qualification experience gained from a corporate income tax role, ideally in-house with a major financial services firm or within the financial services practice of a leading accountancy firm
  • Possess a strong technical knowledge of UK taxation and ideally some experience with the tax regime of one or more additional European jurisdictions (e.g., the Netherlands)
  • Interested in learning a variety of tax processes and significantly broadening your experience; curious around our global business and the tax issues that impact it
  • Strong communicator who can describe detailed problems with brevity and accuracy
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with a “can-do” attitude when resolving issues
  • Able to work proactively and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced with automating tax preparation processes; able to identify and reduce process inefficiencies
  • Having knowledge of transaction taxes such as UK stamp duty and European Financial Transaction Taxes is a plus
  • Having a general understanding of FATCA/CRS/CBCR regimes is a plus
  • Fluency in English is required
